Chapter 9
“You haven’t told me what happened, how am I supposed to make a decision?”
“If you love me, then you will forgive me.”
Hearing his wife’s words, Han An found it somewhat laughable.
Just because he loves his wife, does that mean he should forgive her no matter how outrageous she is?
Although he found his wife’s point of view somewhat ridiculous, Han An still said, “As long as it doesn’t involve infidelity, I will definitely forgive you.”
“Okay, then I’ll tell you,” Bai Jing said, looking at her husband. “In July, the three of us went to Fangji Island in Maoming. I was sunbathing on a beach chair. I remember you were playing with our son on the beach while I was sunbathing. I was so sleepy that I fell asleep. In my drowsy state, I felt someone touching me. At first, I thought it was you, but then I realized you wouldn’t touch me in a public place like that, so I immediately opened my eyes. What I saw was a man I’d never seen before. When he saw I was awake, he ran away immediately. If you had been nearby, I would have called you to chase after him, but you weren’t there. I remember you were quite far away from me then, and I had to call you several times before you came.”
“I thought you were resting with your eyes closed, so I took my son to play on the beach. Later, my son ran off by himself, so I went after him. When I heard you calling, I immediately took my son back to find you.”
“Do you remember that I was crying back then?”
“Of course I remember,” Han An said. “I asked you what happened, and you said sand got into your eyes.”
“So you believed it?”
“I wouldn’t believe it if it weren’t on the beach.”
“In fact, it wasn’t sand that got into his eyes, but rather he was so scared that he cried.”
Where did he touch you?
After being asked this question by her husband, Bai Jing shook her head with a frown.
“Did I touch your breasts?”
“There’s no need to talk about it anymore,” Bai Jing said. “It’s been so long since then.”
“If you hadn’t brought it up, I certainly wouldn’t have asked,” Han An said as he walked up to his wife. “But now that you’ve brought it up, if you don’t explain clearly, I’ll definitely start overthinking things. I might even think he’s reached into your swim trunks and is touching you there.”
“No.”
“Then tell me,” Han An asked, grabbing his wife’s shoulders, “where exactly did he touch you?”
Bai Jing glanced at her husband, then lowered her head and whispered, “You touched my breasts, and now you want to touch my private parts.”
“Did you actually touch it?”
“When he touched my thigh, I opened my eyes, and he ran away in fright.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about this back then?” Han An said. “If you had told me, I would have caught that bastard immediately and sent him to the police station!”
“The key point is that when you arrived, I had no idea where he had gone.”
“At least you should have told me about this.”
“I don’t want to upset you, after all, we’re going to Fangji Island for the weekend.”
Hearing his wife’s words, Han An sighed deeply.
After sighing, Han An walked to the side.
Looking at the sky being swallowed by darkness, Han An cursed, “This is fucking awful!”
“Honey, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you angry.”
“I’m not angry with you,” Han An paused, then added, “I am angry with you because you didn’t tell me about it right away. Did you think that just because the guy ran away, you didn’t need to tell me or call the police? You should have told me, and I would have taken you to the police station. The police would have investigated and, based on your description and the surveillance footage from major intersections, would have identified the suspect and arrested that idiot who took advantage of you.”
“I don’t think the police will take this case.”
“Why won’t it be accepted?”
“Xiaoru encountered something similar,” Bai Jing said. “Last year, Xiaoru and her husband went to Dongao Island for vacation, and she was groped by someone. When she went to report it to the police, they said that it’s easy for physical contact to occur on the beach, so it’s normal to be touched on the buttocks or chest. Xiaoru said that someone grabbed her buttocks and touched her there, but the police said she was overthinking it. Because there was no substantial evidence, the matter was dropped.”
“Did they catch the man at the time?”
“They didn’t catch them, but Xiaoru took photos while her husband was arguing with that man.”
“The police still didn’t take the case?”
“Um.”
“No matter what, you should have told me.”
“I’ve already told you.”
“They should have told me then, not three months later.”
“If something like that happens again, I will tell you immediately.”
“Don’t say anything unlucky,” Han An said after walking over and embracing his wife. “You are my woman, and I am the only man who can touch you. I will not allow any other man to touch you.”
“There’s another man who can touch me.”
“who?”
“Of course it’s our precious son.”
“That scared me to death.”
“Haha,” Bai Jing laughed, then squinted and asked, “Honey, are you afraid I’ll be snatched away by another man?”
“Because you are a treasure, of course I am worried.”
“Don’t worry, that won’t happen.”
“I used to feel at ease letting you go back to your parents’ home alone, but now I’m not so sure.”
“Why?”
“Just because you stayed in the city alone for three days and didn’t even go back to your parents’ home,” Han An said. “Besides, I don’t understand why you went to play that escape room game.”
“I spent three days in the city to relax, and I played escape rooms because I thought they were fun.”
“You spent three whole days wandering around the city?”
“I just wanted to relax, honey, you really don’t need to make a fuss,” Bai Jing said, sounding a little distressed. “If I had known you would overthink things, I wouldn’t have come to Lijiang.”
“It’s not because you came to Lijiang that I’m overthinking things. It’s because I don’t understand why you didn’t go back to your parents’ home immediately. You should be very worried about your mother, whom you haven’t seen in a long time,” Han An said. “So I think you’re with someone, and that’s why you don’t even care about your mother.”
“No, that’s not true! I’m all alone!”
Seeing his wife so flustered, Han An became even more suspicious.
