“It’s nothing, it’s nothing,” the security guard, still clutching his stomach, said. “You’re really strong!”
“I’m so sorry!”
After saying these four words, Han An walked toward the man.
As for why his wife was here, it clearly wasn’t the right time to ask.
But seeing how his wife had slapped the man without hesitation, Han An knew she deeply loved their son.
Approaching the man, who was now restrained by the security guards, Han An asked, “Why did you sneak into my house six months ago?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about! How the hell would I know where your house is!”
“I was going to let you go after you explained, but since you won’t talk, let’s just go to the police station.”
The man seemed a bit scared by Han An’s words.
“Are you going to talk or not?”
“Damn it,” the man spat on the ground before saying, “Then just take me to the police station. I’ve never been to your house. Don’t label me a thug just because I look tough. And why would I go to your house for no reason? You say I scared your son—do you really think I’m that bored?”
At that moment, Bai Jing pulled her husband aside.
“Honey, should we bring Binbin here?”
“I was thinking the same thing, but I really don’t want Binbin to get more traumatized.”
“He matches the description Binbin gave, but we can’t be sure he’s the one who scared Binbin, so we need Binbin to identify him.”
“Then take a photo of him and bring it to my mom’s place.”
“Actually, I’m a bit scared of your mom.”
“Then I’ll go,” Han An said. “I’ll have the security guards take him to the security room. You wait for me there.”
“Okay!”
With a plan in mind, Han An naturally shared it with the security guards present.
Once they agreed, Han An took a photo of the man.
After taking the photo and reminding his wife to be careful, Han An ran toward the building where his parents lived.
Arriving at the door, Han An knocked.
About a minute later, the door was opened by his mother.
Looking at her son, Zhang Chunhua asked, “Why are you here so late?”
“I found the person who might have scared Binbin,” Han An said as he walked inside. “I took his photo and want to show it to Binbin now.”
“Binbin is already asleep.”
“He needs to see it, or the security guards will have to let the man go.”
“Then I’ll wake Binbin up.”
As Zhang Chunhua entered the second bedroom, Han An’s father, Han Guoqiang, came out of the master bedroom.
“Dad, long time no see.”
The usually taciturn Han Guoqiang said nothing, just nodded.
After nodding, Han Guoqiang sat down directly on the sofa.
Waking Binbin, Zhang Chunhua carried him out of the second bedroom.
“Binbin.”
“Daddy!”
“Let me show you a photo.”
With that, Han An held up the phone he had prepared.
After hesitating for a moment, Han An turned the screen toward his son.
Seeing the person in the photo, Binbin was so scared he immediately turned his head away.
Besides tightly hugging his grandmother’s neck, Binbin’s body was trembling, as if he were about to cry.
“Binbin, is he the one who told you not to speak?”
Terrified, Binbin didn’t dare say a word but nodded vigorously.
“Mom, take care of Binbin. I’m going downstairs.”
“Do you want me to come with you?”
“Just take care of Binbin for me.”
“Could he be Xiaojing’s lover?”
“Mom, can you stop saying things like that all the time?” Han An asked, a bit annoyed. “Do you think every man in the world is your daughter-in-law’s lover?”
“Didn’t he go to our house?”
“I didn’t let you come down because I was afraid you’d cause trouble. Just take care of Binbin.”
After patting his son on the back of the head, Han An left.
Once Han An was gone, Han Guoqiang said, “Xiaojing is very filial. You must have misunderstood her.”
“Are you saying you’re having an affair with her too?”
“Why do you have to be so harsh?”
“That’s just how I talk!”
“I really don’t want to talk to you.”
With that, Han Guoqiang immediately went into the master bedroom and closed the door.
As for Zhang Chunhua, she focused on comforting her grandson.
Arriving at the security room, Han An said, “It’s you! My son started crying the moment he saw your photo!”
“Are you crazy?” the man said, looking very impatient. “I look tough, so it’s normal for kids to be scared of me. Besides, can you trust what a child says? If you have proof I went to your house, then show it!”
“Do you believe I’ll call the police right now?”
“Go ahead!”
Seeing how brazen the man was, Han An had no choice but to call the police.
About fifteen minutes later, two officers arrived at the security room.
After understanding the situation, the two officers took Han An, Bai Jing, and the arrogant man away.
At the police station, Han An and Bai Jing were in one room giving statements, while the man was in another.
During the statement-taking, the officer handling Han An and Bai Jing was called out to the hallway by a colleague for a brief chat.
After the chat, the officer returned to continue taking their statements.
Once the statements were done, one officer said, “This happened six months ago, so there’s no surveillance footage to check. What we can do is visit your neighborhood tomorrow to talk to residents. Earlier, I stepped out to talk to my colleague, and he said the man denies everything. Plus, since it’s been over half a year, he can’t remember where he was on the date you mentioned. Honestly, you didn’t lose anything, and no one was hurt. Why not just settle this?”
“Settle?” Han An sneered coldly. “And you call yourself a cop!”
“I know you’re upset, but this is just a waste of time,” the officer said calmly. “He won’t admit it, and you don’t have solid evidence. Isn’t this just a wild goose chase?”
“My son said it was him.”
“Your son is only three years old, too young. Besides, it was six months ago—he couldn’t possibly remember who scared him.”
“So you just don’t want to deal with it?”
“How could I not want to? It’s our duty,” the officer said with a smile. “You two go home for now. Tomorrow, I’ll visit your neighborhood to see if anyone saw him go to your house.”
“What’s his name?”
“Sorry, I’m not authorized to disclose that.”
“Fine, then I’ll step outside to make a call,” Han An said, standing up. “Wife, wait here.”
With that, Han An walked out.
Seeing this, the officer asked, “Where’s your husband going?”
“Probably to the bathroom.”
“This is really just a neighborhood dispute,” the officer said. “It’s not even a case—there’s no need to get involved.”
“If your son had been scared into silence for six months, would you just brush it off?”
Bai Jing’s retort left the officer with an awkward smile.
