Chapter 5, the sight of her large breasts swaying
Lin Jianguo arrived home at 7:10.
Gu Xueqing was in the kitchen ladling pork rib soup from the clay pot into bowls when she heard the sound of the front door unlocking. She peeked out…
He glanced at it.
”You’re back? Didn’t you say there was an emergency surgery tonight?”
Lin Jianguo changed out of his leather shoes, placed his car keys on a tray in the entryway, and said in a calm tone: “The surgery was completed ahead of schedule.”
”It ended around 3 PM. Xiao Li covered my shift, so I came back first.”
”You should have said so earlier! I thought it would just be Xiao Mo and me eating. I didn’t cook enough.” Gu Xue
Qing pouted and turned back to the kitchen, taking two more eggs from the refrigerator. “I’ll make some scrambled eggs with tomatoes too, to make do.”
Let’s eat together.
”No need for all that trouble, pork rib soup will do.” Lin Jianguo walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa.
She stood up again. “I’m going to wash my hands.”
He walked towards the guest bathroom on the first floor, and as he passed the kitchen door, he glanced at his wife’s back out of the corner of his eye.
Gu Xueqing had changed her clothes. She had changed out of the silk blouse and pencil skirt she wore that afternoon into a set of loungewear—
The top is a dark gray V-neck long-sleeved shirt made of a very thin and soft modal cotton fabric with an excellent drape, like a…
A layer of liquid fabric clung to his body, conforming to every inch of his skin. Below, he wore loose-fitting trousers in the same color scheme.
The pants hung loosely on her hips, tied at the waist with a thin drawstring. She was barefoot.
Stepping onto the kitchen tile floor, the pale pink nail polish on my toes shimmered faintly under the light.
.
She wasn’t wearing a bra.
This is not very obvious from the back. But it becomes apparent from the front—or the side.
Beneath the fabric of that V-neck loungewear, two enormous, full, and surprisingly heavy mounds of flesh were…
A completely unrestrained, free state hung over her chest. There were no underwires or shoulder straps.
Bearing weight, G-cup breasts rely entirely on their own elasticity and skin tension to maintain their shape, causing them to be larger than…
Her bra slipped down a little, but her breasts were still incredibly full and firm—a 39-year-old woman, still stunning.
The fact that her breasts have maintained this shape after having a child can only be attributed to genetics and years of consistent care.
maintainance.
Modal cotton fabric is too thin and too soft. It faithfully conforms to every inch of the breast’s curves—
The curvature of the upper edge, the expansion of the sides, the roundness of the lower edge, and the two slightly raised dots in the very center.
The two small dots were her nipples. Without a bra to conceal them, the outlines of her nipples were clearly visible through the thin fabric.
It is discernible—not very obvious, but you will definitely see it if you know where to look.
Lin Jianguo knew where to look.
But he didn’t look at her. He only glanced at his wife’s back out of the corner of his eye before walking into the guest bathroom.
He stood in front of the sink, turned on the tap, and rinsed his hands under the cold water. His reflection appeared in the mirror.
His own face—a forty-year-old man, with a square face, thick eyebrows, deep-set eyes, a high nose bridge, and a layer of skin on his chin.
A clean-shaven, bluish stubble. A few fine lines at the corners of his eyes, and a look in his eyes that others couldn’t decipher.
A complex mix of exhaustion and a secret expectation.
He spent more than two hours watching the surveillance footage in the hospital’s duty room that afternoon.
He saw Lin Mo staring at his wife’s buttocks in the living room. He saw the bulge in Lin Mo’s crotch.
I saw Lin Mo rushing into the guest bathroom and then rushing out again. I saw Lin Mo lock the door after returning to his room.
The view from the bedroom door—there were no cameras installed in the room, but he didn’t need to see the footage to know what his son was doing inside.
What happened?
An 18-year-old boy watched his mother get an erection, then ran back to his room to masturbate.
This realization made his heart beat a tiny bit faster than usual. Not because of anger, not because of…
Shocked, but because—
He turned off the tap, wiped his hands with a towel, and took a deep breath.
Stop thinking about it. Eat first.
——
”Xiao Mo—come down for dinner—” Gu Xueqing called out as she placed the last dish on the table and looked up at the stairs.
A sound.
”Here I am.” Lin Mo’s voice came from the second floor.
Footsteps came from the stairs, growing louder as they approached. Lin Mo appeared, wearing a white T-shirt and gray athletic shorts.
At the top of the stairs, his hair was a little messy, as if he had just dozed off at his desk. He saw a…
He paused for a moment, looking at the men’s jacket—it belonged to Lin Jianguo.
”Dad’s back?”
”Hmm.” Lin Jianguo was already seated at the head of the table, using serving chopsticks to put the ribs from the casserole into his own bowl.
She picked it up from the bowl. “The surgery is over; I came back a little early.”
”Oh.” Lin Mo walked to the dining table, pulled out his chair, and sat down.
The Lin family’s dining table was a rectangular solid wood table that could seat six people. Lin Jianguo sat at one end as the head of the table.
Gu Xueqing sat to his right, and Lin Mo sat opposite him—meaning Lin Mo and Gu Xueqing were diagonally opposite each other.
The corners are about 1.2 meters apart.
wrong.
The seats are different today.
Gu Xueqing didn’t sit in her usual spot. She sat to Lin Mo’s right—that is, opposite Lin Jianguo.
The noodles. Perhaps it was because she was the last one served, and that spot was closest to the kitchen, making it the most convenient place to sit.
This means that the distance between Lin Mo and his mother has been reduced from 1.2 meters to less than half a meter.
Lin Mo realized the problem the moment he sat down.
Because as soon as he sat down, he could turn his head and see his mother’s profile—a delicate jawline and a long, swan-like neck.
The curve of her collarbone—and that V-neck loungewear.
The V-neck opening extends from the center of the collarbone to about five centimeters below the chest, forming a…
A deep V-shape. From Lin Mo’s perspective—he was sitting to her left, his gaze diagonally downwards to the right—but…
You can see the right half of the V-shaped opening: a large expanse of fair, delicate chest skin, and the inside of the right breast.
A small section of the side’s curved surface. The breasts bulge slightly from the edge of the V-neck, like a bosom barely contained by the fabric.
Overly plump peaches.
He wasn’t wearing a bra.
No, she. She wasn’t wearing a bra.
This discovery exploded in Lin Mo’s mind like a bomb. His pupils contracted slightly, then he quickly…
My gaze shifted to the bowl in front of me.
The bowl contains white rice. White. Clean. Safe.
He picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of pork rib, and put it in his bowl.
”Do you have a lot of homework today?” Lin Jianguo asked, his tone calm, like that of any Chinese father at a mealtime.
The kind of question that everyone asks at the table.
”Not bad.” Lin Mo chewed on the ribs, his gaze fixed on the bowl. “One English reading passage, two math papers.”
”This is a weekly journal entry on Chinese language.”
What should I write in my weekly journal?
”I haven’t decided yet.”
”Write down your goals and plans for the new semester; teachers love reading that.” Lin Jianguo took a sip of pork rib soup.
He nodded. “Your mother’s pork rib soup is excellent, cooked to perfection.”
”That’s right, I simmered it for over two hours.” Gu Xueqing smiled and scooped a bowl of soup into her bowl.
In front of Lin Mo. “Little Mo, drink some soup first, it’ll warm your stomach.”
She leaned forward slightly as she pushed the soup bowl towards her.
That was it.
The forward lean caused the neckline of the V-neck loungewear to droop naturally a bit. The modal cotton fabric was too soft.
Without any support, it obediently fell downwards under the influence of gravity, and the V-shaped opening widened instantly.
That’s enough—not a lot, but it’s enough. From Lin Mo’s perspective, he could see—
Two large, unrestrained breasts sagged slightly forward within the loose fabric of her loungewear.
The dots, pressed together by the forward lean, created a deep, dark line at the opening of the V-neck.
Her cleavage was visible. The upper edge of her breasts bulged slightly from the neckline, white and smooth as cream, bathed in the warm yellow light of the restaurant.
It gleamed with a soft, almost luminous sheen under the light.
Then she straightened up, her breasts swaying slightly but clearly as she moved.
The movement—first it dipped downwards, then bounced back, tracing a tiny arc in the fabric. (The whole…)
The entire process took less than a second, but the shaky footage seemed to be slowed down, etched frame by frame into Lin’s memory.
The retina of ink.
His chopsticks trembled.
A piece of pork rib, held between the tips of his chopsticks, almost fell onto the table. He quickly tightened his grip, steadied the rib, and stuffed it back into his mouth.
Put it in your mouth.
His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his throat.
Below the table, his penis was swelling at an unstoppable pace. That thing, from its limp state…
Blood began to swell, like a snake awakened, slowly but surely stretching out within the fabric of the athletic shorts.
Come on. Fifteen centimeters…eighteen centimeters…twenty centimeters…the glans pressed against the inner fabric of the shorts, pulling the fabric…
It creates an increasingly obvious bulge that leans to the left.
He instinctively pushed the chair further under the table, burying his lower body even deeper beneath the tabletop covering.
They blocked it.
”Oh, right,” Gu Xueqing said casually, picking up a piece of green vegetable with her chopsticks and putting it into her bowl. “The neighbor next door…”
Did you know that we have new neighbors?
”A new neighbor?” Lin Jianguo looked up. “That villa has been empty for almost two years, hasn’t it? Has someone finally bought it?”
”
”Yes, they moved in this afternoon. I sent over a tray of cookies this evening to let them know.” – Gu Xueqing
explain.
”Who are they? Young people or a family?” Lin Jianguo asked.
”Just one child.” Gu Xueqing’s tone carried the same heartache she felt that afternoon. “A twelve-year-old…”
The 1-year-old boy, named Wang Bo, said his parents work in Shenzhen and asked him to move in alone first. What do you think of this father…?
”That mother is really something, leaving a twelve-year-old child alone in such a big house, how can she not feel at ease?”
”Twelve years old? Alone?” Lin Jianguo frowned. “Then who will take care of him?”
”There’s just no one to take care of him,” Gu Xueqing sighed. “I asked him if he had eaten dinner yet, and he said no.”
”Let’s eat, I’m about to order takeout. How can a twelve-year-old stay healthy eating takeout every day?”
”Didn’t you invite him to our house for dinner?” Lin Jianguo asked.
”I told you, he was too shy to come. He’s just shy, it’s his first day here.” Gu Xueqing stirred the bowl with a spoon.
The soup inside. “I told him he could contact us if he needed anything. I also left him my phone number.”
”
”Yes, of course.” Lin Jianguo nodded, his tone revealing no particular emotion. “Distant relatives”
”It’s better to help a neighbor if you can.”
”That’s what I think too.” Gu Xueqing turned to look at Lin Mo. “Xiao Mo, please take good care of him in the future.”
Take care of that little boy. He’s only twelve, six years younger than you, and he’s all alone, which is quite pitiful.
”Hmm,” Lin Mo mumbled in response, his gaze never leaving the bowl.
He had no interest in his new neighbors. His entire attention was focused on two things.
First, control your gaze so it doesn’t drift to the right; second, control your physical reactions below the table.
Don’t get caught.
He did the first thing with barely any effort. His eyes were fixed on the rice and ribs in his bowl, occasionally glancing up at…
He looked at his father across from him, or lowered his head to take a sip of soup. He didn’t look to his right. He didn’t. Absolutely not.
But his peripheral vision was out of control.
The human field of vision is approximately 180 degrees. The central field of vision is 60 degrees directly in front, allowing for clearer details.
Sixty degrees to each side constitutes peripheral vision, revealing only blurry outlines and movement. Lin Mo’s central vision remains firmly fixed.
He was locked inside the bowl, but in his right peripheral vision, there was always a blurry but undeniable presence.
In—a dark gray, soft outline that undulates slightly with each breath.
That was my mother’s breast.
He didn’t need to turn his head to look. His peripheral vision had already captured the size, shape, and range of motion of that outline.
Everything was captured and automatically transmitted to the visual processing center of his brain. His brain did so without his knowledge.
In this case, the blurry outline has been pieced together into a high-definition, richly detailed image—V
Her G-cup breasts, exposed beneath her loungewear without a bra, rose and fell gently with her breath, the outline of her nipples visible through the thin fabric.
The modal cotton fabric is faintly visible.
His penis became even harder.
Twenty-two centimeters. Almost at my limit. The glans was as hard as a purplish-red stone, pressing against my athletic shorts.
The fabric was stretched almost to the point of transparency; he could even feel the air seeping through the thin, stretched fabric.
The sensation of the ground touching the surface of the glans.
He lowered his left hand from the table, casually placing it on his thigh, and gently pressed it with his palm.
I tried to press that bulge down so it was pressed against my inner thigh, not so obviously against my pants.
However, this action has the opposite effect. The tactile sensation of pressing with the palm is transmitted to the brain through the dense nerve endings on the glans penis.
A surge of intense, spine-tingling pleasure washed over him. His body involuntarily trembled—
It was very slight, but enough to make his right hand, which was holding the ribs, tremble again.
”Xiao Mo, what’s wrong?” Gu Xueqing noticed his unusual behavior. “You can’t even hold your chopsticks properly, is that it?”
Are your hands cold?
”No.” Lin Mo’s voice was a little tense. “It’s just… the ribs were too slippery, I couldn’t hold them.”
”Then use a spoon to scoop it up,” Gu Xueqing said, reaching for the serving spoon in the middle of the table.
Her body leaned forward again.
This time, Lin Mo didn’t have time to look away.
He saw it.
The V-neck loungewear opened wide, revealing two large, unrestrained breasts…
The forward lean caused it to fall forward, forming two heavy, swaying arcs within the loose fabric. (Breast)
The ravine was bottomless, like a dark canyon sandwiched between two white hills. The surface of the breast tissue shone under the light.
It had a delicate sheen, like it had been coated with a thin layer of lotion. He could even see the inside of his left breast.
On a small patch of skin, there was a very thin, light blue blood vessel pattern, like a crack on white porcelain.
Then she took the serving spoon and straightened up. Her breasts swayed noticeably with the movement.
—First it bounced up, then fell down, then bounced up again, then fell again—like two things stuffed in a cloth bag.
A water-filled balloon undergoes damped oscillations under the combined effects of gravity and elasticity. The entire process takes approximately…
It lasted for a second and a half, then the breasts returned to stillness, with only slight undulations caused by breathing.
Lin Mo’s brain short-circuited for 0.5 seconds.
In those 0.5 seconds, his penis completed its final expansion—23 centimeters, fully erect.
Hard as an iron rod. The glans was huge, like a purplish-red mushroom, with veins bulging on the shaft like earthworms; the entire penis looked like…
A rolling pin, tucked into athletic shorts, extended from the crotch to the upper left thigh, against the gray fabric.
The material formed a thick, conspicuous bulge that anyone looking down could not ignore.
Fortunately, the desktop blocked it.
Gu Xueqing used a serving spoon to scoop two pieces of pork ribs into Lin Mo’s bowl. “Come on, eat more, you’re still growing.”
.
”That’s enough, I can do it myself.” Lin Mo’s voice was a half-tone higher than usual. He lowered his head.
He frantically shoveled food into his mouth, as if trying to distract himself by chewing.
”Eat slowly, no one’s going to take it from you.” Gu Xueqing frowned. “And why are you talking like this today?”
”Fewer? Is there anything unpleasant happening at school?”
”No,” Lin Mo said, chewing his food. “I’m just a little tired; I had a lot of homework today.”
”Senior year of high school, it’s bound to be tiring,” Lin Jianguo interjected from across the room. His tone remained calm.
A tone devoid of any emotional fluctuation. “But you can’t skip meals. Your mom stewed pork ribs for over two hours…”
”You should at least drink a couple more bowls of bone broth.”
”I drank it.” Lin Mo picked up the soup bowl, tilted his head back, and took a big gulp.
Lin Jianguo watched his son’s actions, and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly—not a smile, nor anything else.
The emotion was merely a very slight, fleeting muscle movement, like a twitch of the lips.
His gaze lingered on his son’s face for two seconds.
Then it moved to his wife’s face. It paused for a second.
Then it moved to his wife’s chest. It stayed there for half a second.
Then it went back into its own bowl.
This series of glances moved as naturally as someone casually looking around while eating. Without any…
There was no deliberate element to it, no unusual lingering. If someone were observing him, they would only think it was…
The husband and father exchanged normal, casual glances at each other at the dinner table.
But only Lin Jianguo himself knew what he saw in those 0.5 seconds.
He saw the outline of his wife’s large breasts beneath her V-neck loungewear, where she wasn’t wearing a bra. He saw…
He could see the two slightly raised nipples through the thin fabric. He saw the flesh of her breasts as she bent over to pick up food.
The curve that sways inside the neckline.
Then he saw his son’s reaction.
Lin Mo thought he had hidden it well. But Lin Jianguo was a surgeon—the most important thing for a surgeon.
One of the skills is observation. This involves observing the patient’s complexion, respiratory rate, pupil size, and muscle tension.
Some subtle changes in physiological indicators may be meaningless to the average person, but to an experienced surgeon…
In the eyes of doctors, they form a clear and interpretable map of physiological states.
He saw Lin Mo’s chopsticks tremble for a moment.
He saw Lin Mo put his left hand down from the table and rest it on his thigh.
He saw Lin Mo’s body tremble slightly for a moment.
He noticed the abnormal blush on Lin Mo’s cheeks.
He noticed that Lin Mo’s voice was half a tone higher than usual.
He noticed Lin Mo’s deliberate posture of desperately shoveling rice into his mouth and not daring to look to the right.
All these details, pieced together, point to one clear conclusion—his son is currently in…
He was in a state of intense sexual arousal. And the stimulus that aroused him was sitting to his right.
Lin Jianguo’s penis, which had been limp for five years, twitched slightly in his pants.
Very slight. Not an erection—it no longer has the ability to achieve a full erection—but a very weak one.
A tentative, tentative surge of blood. Like a hibernating snake sensing the first warmth of spring, stirring slightly in its burrow.
He raised his head slightly, then pulled it back down.
He picked up the soup bowl and took a sip. His expression remained unchanged.
”By the way, Xiao Mo,” Gu Xueqing spoke up again. “Have you thought about enrolling in any extracurricular tutoring classes lately?”
Have all the students in your class signed up?
”I don’t want to sign up.” Lin Mo’s answer was straightforward. “There are already enough classes at school, and signing up for tutoring classes would be too much.”
Time to rest.
”But you only got 128 on your math final exam last semester, out of 150. You’ve improved!”
”It’s about space,” Gu Xueqing said. “What’s the name of that top student in your class again? He always scores over 140.”
that.”
”Zhang Zihan,” Lin Mo said. “She started taking math Olympiad classes in junior high school; it’s too late for me to sign her up now.”
.
”What do you mean ‘too late’? Senior year has only just begun.” Gu Xueqing put down her chopsticks and turned to face Lin Mo.
”Mom wants to talk to you about the college entrance exam—”
Her turning motion made her upper body completely face Lin Mo.
The V-neck of his loungewear faced him directly. The deep V-shape of the opening was like a silent invitation.
It pulled his gaze downwards. He could see a small patch of shadow at the bottom of the V-shape—where two mounds of flesh met.
The deepest point at the confluence, a place where light cannot reach, is dark and mysterious.
His gaze lingered on the V-shape for less than two tenths of a second before abruptly shifting away to the ceiling.
.
”Mom, I understand,” he interrupted her. “I’ll study hard, don’t worry.”
”You always say ‘I know, I know,’ but then—”
”Xueqing,” Lin Jianguo said calmly. “Don’t talk about these things at the dinner table. The child is already under enough pressure.”
Gu Xueqing glanced at her husband, hesitated, and finally sighed. “Alright, that’s enough. Let’s eat.”
meal.”
She turned back to face the table. This turning motion caused her breasts to twitch again.
The second sway—this time in a left-right direction, like two pendulums moving in sync.
Lin Mo stuffed the last bite of rice into his mouth, chewed it a couple of times, and swallowed it.
”I’m finished eating.” He pushed his bowl and chopsticks forward, pulled his chair back, and stood up.
The moment he stood up, his heart leaped into his throat—because he wasn’t sure if the obstruction on the table was…
That’s enough. The thick bulge in the front of his athletic shorts was completely exposed the second he stood up.
Exposed to the air—without the obstruction of a tabletop, with nothing to block it.
But he stood up very quickly. He sprang up almost as soon as the chair was pulled out, then swiftly turned around, his back…
I walked towards the stairs, facing the dining table.
”Aren’t you going to wash the dishes?” Gu Xueqing called out from behind.
”Come down and wash in a bit,” he said without turning his head. “I’m going upstairs to do my homework first.”
”You barely ate any rice, just one bowl—”
”I’m full.”
His footsteps echoed rapidly on the stairs, thump-thump-thump, as if he were fleeing. Then came the second floor.
The sound of the door closing—click. Then the sound of the lock turning—click.
The restaurant was silent for two seconds.
Gu Xueqing looked towards the stairs, her brows furrowing slightly. She put down her chopsticks, rested her chin on her hand, and her face…
A confused, slightly worried expression appeared on his face.
”Jianguo.” She turned to look at her husband.
”Hmm?” Lin Jianguo was slowly sipping his soup.
”Have you noticed that Xiao Mo has been acting a little strange lately?”
”Something’s not right?”
”It’s just…” Gu Xueqing thought for a moment, carefully choosing her words. “He’s been eating faster and faster lately.”
A meal used to take at least twenty minutes, but now it’s over in less than ten minutes, like we’re rushing to catch a train.
And she’s become quieter, often staying in her room at home. Is something wrong at school? Or…
Is this just puberty and rebellion?
Lin Jianguo put down the soup bowl and wiped his mouth with a tissue. He looked up at his wife’s face—that sharp…
Her exquisitely beautiful face was filled with a mother’s worry for her son, her amber-colored peach blossom eyes showing no other thoughts.
Things, only pure, heartfelt concern.
”Boys, they’re all like that at this age,” he said, his tone flat as if stating a fact.
Weather forecast. “When I was eighteen, I didn’t like talking to my parents either; I felt they didn’t understand anything. Normal.”
”Don’t overthink it.”
”But he wasn’t like this before,” Gu Xueqing said, her voice tinged with grievance. “He used to be so clingy…”
When I get home from school, the first thing I do is run to the kitchen and tell them about school, chattering away nonstop.
Now, things are even worse. As soon as he gets home, he goes straight to his room, locks the door, and I have to call him several times to eat.
”He’s grown up.” Lin Jianguo stood up and put his bowl and chopsticks in the kitchen sink. “Eighteen years old.”
”This boy has his own world now. Don’t always treat him like a little kid.”
”I know he’s grown up, but…” Gu Xueqing sighed, not finishing her sentence.
She stood up and began clearing the table of leftover food. She put the leftover ribs into a food storage container and poured the vegetables into it.
She took the trash can and the soup bowl to the kitchen. She did these things with swift, mechanical movements, her expression shifting from…
The confusion slowly turned into a faint sense of loss.
Her son is growing up. Moving away from her. This is something every mother goes through, she knows. But…
Knowing is one thing, accepting is another.
What she didn’t know was that her son wasn’t drifting away from her.
On the contrary.
He was getting closer and closer to her in a terrifying way that she couldn’t even imagine.
Lin Jianguo stood by the kitchen sink, watching his wife’s busy figure. Her V-neck loungewear clung to her back.
The fabric accentuates the butterfly-shaped contours of the shoulder blades and the concave curves of the waist. The loose-fitting trousers hang gracefully over the hips.
Her steps were slightly unsteady.
His gaze lingered on her back for three seconds.
Then he turned around, walked to the sofa in the living room, picked up the remote control, and turned on the TV.
News channel. The anchor is broadcasting a typhoon warning.
He leaned back on the sofa, his eyes fixed on the television screen, but his pupils were unfocused. His gaze passed right through the television.
The image passed through the living room wall and landed on an unseen image that existed only in his mind.
In that scene, there was a dining table; his wife was sitting on one side of the table, and his son was sitting on the other.
His wife, wearing a V-neck loungewear dress and no bra, bent down to serve food to their son. His son kept his head down.
His chopsticks were trembling, his cheeks were flushed, and a huge bulge appeared in his crotch.
The TV presenter said, “Typhoon Prasang, the fourteenth typhoon of this year, is expected to make landfall in Zhejiang in late September.”
The storm is expected to make landfall along the coast, bringing heavy to torrential rain to the coastal area…
Lin Jianguo turned the TV volume down two notches.
The sound of running water and the clinking of dishes came from the kitchen. Gu Xueqing was washing the dishes.
A very faint groan came from upstairs, almost drowned out by the sound of water and the television.
Lin Jianguo heard it.
His lips twitched slightly. Then he regained his composure.
Gu Xueqing didn’t hear. She put the last bowl in the drainer, turned off the tap, and wiped the bowl with her apron.
She wiped her hands. She walked out of the kitchen, through the living room, and saw her husband leaning back on the sofa watching TV.
”I’m going to take a shower,” she said.
”Hmm.” Lin Jianguo didn’t turn his head.
She walked to the top of the stairs and glanced up. The lights in the second-floor hallway were off, and Lin Mo’s room door was closed.
A sliver of light shone through the crack in the door.
She opened her mouth, wanting to call out, “Xiao Mo, remember to go to bed early after you finish your homework,” but ultimately didn’t say it.
Come on. She stood at the top of the stairs for two seconds in silence, then shook her head and whispered—
”This child has been eating faster and faster lately.”
The voice was very soft, as if talking to oneself.
Then, barefoot, she walked up the stairs step by step.
