I don’t know how I spent the night. When I woke up from my daze the next day, the dormitory was empty, and the sun was already at noon outside the window.
I went straight to the school supermarket, bought a fruit knife, put it in my pants pocket, and headed straight for the physical education department’s dormitory.
I can no longer let my family be insulted by that beast Zhao Chenyu.
My hands gripped the cold knife handle tightly in my pocket, my palms already soaked with sweat. The midday sun was hot, but I couldn’t feel any warmth at all; a chill was seeping into my very bones.
A few withered yellow leaves are falling from the plane trees on both sides of the road, as if bidding farewell to someone’s life in advance.
There were few pedestrians on the street, and most students were in class.
Occasionally, two acquaintances would greet me, but I would pretend not to see them and walk forward with blank eyes.
In my mind, only one image kept replaying: how cleanly and decisively the knife in my hand would plunge into Zhao Chenyu’s heart, how his warm blood would splatter on my face, on his cold, metal-framed bed in the dormitory.
This scene looks somewhat familiar.
By the way, I had a dream before. In the dream, there was a strange rainbow, Zhao Chenyu was naked, and there was a weird wound where a weapon was inserted but no blood came out…
I walked slowly but stiffly along the school road, greedily scanning everything around me, as if saying a final goodbye to the school where I had spent several years.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to say goodbye properly to my mother and Jingyan.
With that thought in mind, I walked into the path in the school’s woods.
After walking a short distance from here, you will reach the dormitory building of the Physical Education Department.
“Get out of my way! I need to go to class!” A soft but angry shout caught my attention.
I glanced around and saw a tall, thin, blond man standing in a small hut in the woods, blocking the view of a girl who looked like a student. The girl had her back to me, but her long, straight, black hair, flowing like a waterfall down to her waist, seemed vaguely familiar, though I couldn’t quite place it.
Who is she?
“What class? We were chatting so well before, why did you delete me? Give me an explanation first.” The blond-haired guy moved left and right, like a disgusting wall, blocking the girl’s way and refusing to let her leave.
“Get lost! If it weren’t for that senior Ma saying he’d introduce me to his friends, I wouldn’t even add you! You’re a hooligan, and he’s pretty much the same!” This girl’s voice…where have I heard it before?
And this blond guy’s shameless attitude—isn’t he the same blond guy who harassed Jingyan at the school gate back then?
How can he still get into our school?
I looked around and there really wasn’t a single person there, not even the cleaning lady.
“Hey! This is none of your business! Get the hell out of here!”
When the blond-haired man saw me standing still, he cursed at me viciously.
Forget it, it has nothing to do with me. I squeezed the knife handle in my pocket. I have more important things to do now. This girl made her own mess, so let her pay for it herself.
I took a step to walk around it.
“Senior Lin! Is that Senior Lin?!”
A clear, slightly urgent voice abruptly pulled me out of my dark thoughts.
I was taken aback; she had not only called out to me, but she had also recognized me.
I stiffly turned my head—it was Lin Shuyue!
“Senior Lin, please help me! This thug from outside the school keeps bothering me—ah! Let go!” As soon as Lin Shuyue saw me, she seemed to see a savior and quickly called out to me for help.
She turned and was about to run towards me, but the blond-haired guy grabbed her arm.
“Let go! This is a school! If you harass me again, I’ll scream!” Lin Shuyue used her other hand to desperately try to pry open his fingers, which were as tight as iron clamps gripping her arm.
“Damn! What’s wrong with school? Why are you freshmen so pretentious? You were the one who agreed to go on a date, we ate and watched a movie, and now you’re just going to leave like that?” The blond-haired guy had a disgustingly thuggish face, and the lewd look in his eyes was even more vulgar than when he was pestering Jingyan.
I paused, a fierce clash between the murderous intent within me and the reality of the moment. Ultimately, I turned and walked step by step towards Lin Shuyue and the others.
“Hey! This is school, are you fucking crazy?! I’m calling security right now!” From a distance of three or four steps, I took out my phone, unlocked the screen, and pretended to dial a number.
“Hey~ Why do you look so familiar?” The blond-haired guy squinted at me, then suddenly realized, “Oh right, last year I was trying to pick up a big-breasted beauty and you ruined it, you son of a bitch!” I didn’t expect this blond-haired guy to be so vengeful. He almost immediately remembered me. He instantly let go of Lin Shuyue, alternately clenched his thin, bony fists on his skinny arms, and cursed as he swung the fist directly at my face.
Damn it, I’m already furious! And you’re the one who ran into me!
The wind whistled past my ears, and that skinny fist instantly magnified in my eyes. My body reacted faster than my brain; I jerked my head to the left and dodged the attack in a flash.
At the same time, my clenched right fist was raised sharply from a tricky angle.
“Bang—” “Ah—fuck!”
With a muffled thud, I punched the blond-haired guy in the stomach, his face contorted in pain. But his arm was already wrapped around my back. Just as I frowned at the stench and drops of saliva coming from in front of me, my clothes were pulled out from behind me.
“Damn it!” The blond-haired guy leaned back and used all his strength to pull me down onto him.
“You motherfucker!” I was completely enraged, and I roared angrily, raising my fist and slamming it down on his hateful face!
“Thump! Thump! Snap!”
“Fuck! Fuck! You son of a bitch!” I cursed as I hit him, venting all the humiliation, anger, and helplessness I felt last night on this damned bastard.
“Stop hitting me, you son of a bitch! Go ahead and kill me, fuck me, go ahead and kill me! Fuck!” The blond-haired guy’s arm was covering his face; his nose was bleeding, and his face was swollen. “You motherfucker! Can’t you understand human language?!” Seeing I ignored him, the blond-haired guy shoved his knee into my groin. I instantly felt a chill on my inner thigh. Looking down, I saw the blond-haired guy’s hand viciously reaching for my crotch! Fuck! This damn thing specializes in attacking the groin!
Without thinking, I instantly swung my left leg across his side and blocked his hand with my thigh. But then I suddenly remembered—my knife was in my left pocket!
Sure enough, the blond-haired guy’s hand went straight into my pocket. “Fuck your mother, I’ll smash your phone to pieces first!” The blond-haired guy thought what was filling my pocket was my phone, but damn it, I couldn’t let him actually pull out a knife. With his reckless attitude and a knife in his hand… I didn’t want to imagine what would happen.
I quickly covered my pocket, but this only made the blond-haired guy’s eyes light up, and he tried even harder to push his hand inside.
“Fuck! Fuck your mother!” the blond-haired guy cursed, his hand already reaching into my pocket. “Ouch, what the hell!” I could feel his right wrist touching the knife handle, and the blade was even drawn from its sheath.
At the same time, I tried my best to touch his right wrist.
What was originally a situation where I had the upper hand and was beating him up turned into a deadly tug-of-war between the two of us in the blink of an eye, as we fought over a weapon.
“Damn it, it’s not a phone! Fuck!” The blond-haired guy’s expression was both angry and smug. Seeing that his wrist couldn’t break free from my grip, he immediately straightened his upper body, opened his stinking mouth, and was about to bite down hard on the back of my hand!
“You motherfucker!” I was speechless at the little blond guy’s cowardly and dirty tricks. Just as his mouth was about to touch the back of my hand, I let go and threw it into the air.
The moment I let go, the blond-haired guy yanked something out of my pocket. “Damn it—a knife! It’s a knife!” The blond-haired guy pulled it out and saw the bright white blade gleaming in the sunlight.
He immediately cried out in surprise, his voice filled with trembling fear.
“Ah—” Lin Shuyue, who was next to her, also screamed when she saw the knife.
Her shout startled the already nervous young man with blond hair.
His hand holding the knife suddenly jerked violently, and the fruit knife fell straight out of his hand.
However, before Lin Shuyue could scream, my hand was already aimed at the little blond hair’s right wrist, trying to snatch the knife.
Screams, a knife falling, and a slap followed in quick succession, as if the world had slowed down, but it all happened in an instant.
“Ah—” A shrill and painful scream instantly woke me from my immersion in the slow motion. I looked down and saw the blond-haired guy touching his right forearm. The knife had been slapped away by my hand and moved to a corner in the distance. Luckily, I wasn’t injured. Lin Shuyue was also standing far away from the knife, trembling.
But on the little blond boy’s arm, a bright red wound was constantly oozing bright red blood.
“Fuck! Fuck your mother! Go ahead and use a knife! Fuck your mother’s ass! Fuck your mother’s ass!” I stood up, while the blond-haired guy lay on the ground, clutching his arm and rolling around wildly, spewing out a string of extremely vulgar curses.
“Fuck your mother, pay up! Pay up! Ah—it hurts like hell!” the blond-haired guy yelled, still trying to extort money from the man.
But the next moment, a rapid siren sounded from afar, growing louder as it approached.
I looked up at Lin Shuyue. She was clutching her phone tightly, circling around the edge of the pavilion, deliberately avoiding the blond-haired boy, and then ran over to me and grabbed my arm.
“Senior…I was the one who called the police…” Police station, interrogation room.
I sat in the chair, and the young policewoman opposite me was meticulously taking notes of what I said.
The door suddenly opened, and a middle-aged police officer with three flowers on his shoulder walked in.
“Director Weng, what brings you here?” The young policewoman jumped up from her chair the moment she saw him, her face flushing red.
But the officer, referred to as “Director Weng,” looked relaxed, smiled, and waved his hand, gesturing for her to sit down.
The policewoman blushed even more. As she sat down, she glanced furtively at her chief’s eyes and noticed something glittering—something I had just seen last night.
“Lin Xuanyu, right?” Director Weng pulled up a chair and sat down, glancing casually at the record on the table. Then he stopped looking at the paper, simply raising his head and quietly scrutinizing me with his sharp eyes.
After watching for a few seconds, he suddenly smiled and sighed, “Sigh—” I was a little puzzled.
“We’ve thrown the knife away for you, you’ll just have to buy a new one.” He spoke in a relaxed tone, as if he were chatting with someone. “You’ve done a great job with Zhang Xiaolong. We took him for treatment, we’ve already taken him to the hospital for bandaging, and we will also give him a serious reprimand and education afterward.”
“He won’t have another chance to harass you and your junior from elementary school,” he said, and I didn’t know how to respond.
Moreover, when he talked about the junior, there was a hint of a teasing smile on his lips.
“However, I still want to ask you something. You’re a graduate student from a top university, what are you planning to do with a knife in your pocket all the time? Luckily, this Zhang Xiaolong is a coward who bullies the weak and fears the strong. If you had encountered one of those hot-blooded thugs today, a murder might have happened.” As he spoke, his joking demeanor gradually disappeared, and finally, his fingers tapped the table repeatedly, and an aura of heavy authority, as solid as a mountain, instantly swept over me.
The young policewoman next to her immediately sat up straight, but her eyes gleamed with a hint of wariness as she glanced at her chief.
“Yes, Director, you’re right!” I quickly replied.
“Alright, I was just reminding you, you can go now!” Director Weng returned to his relaxed demeanor, and his expression towards me showed a hint of appreciation.
He interrupted me, indicating that I could leave.
As soon as he left the recording room.
“Xuanyu~”
“Xuanyu~”
“Senior Lin~”
My mother, Jingyan, and Lin Shuyue all gathered around, and for a moment, various fragrances filled my nostrils.
My mother’s expression was relatively calm, while Jingyan gripped my arm tightly, looking me up and down to see if I was injured. Lin Shuyue, on the other hand, stared at me with a gaze that was a mixture of gratitude and… infatuation.
“Miss Lin told us everything, Xuanyu, Mom thinks you did the right thing.” The love and appreciation in my mother’s eyes warmed my heart, which had been cold all day.
“But you’ll have to explain to your mother when you get back that you had a knife in your pocket.” But what she said next left me speechless.
My mother’s gaze passed over me, and when I turned my head, it was Director Weng who came out.
“Brother Weng, thank you for your help today. I’ll treat you to a meal another day.”
My mother smiled faintly, exuding elegance.
“It’s alright. I didn’t expect Lin to be not only an excellent student but also a brave and righteous young man,” Director Weng said with a smile. The way he looked at my mother was neither as relaxed as when he looked at the young policewoman, nor as appreciative as when he looked at me, nor as greedy as when the men at school looked at my mother.
It was a kind of respect that came from the heart.
The incident ended with me being honorably listed on the school’s “Heroic Acts” list. What’s even more interesting is that, through the principal’s personal intervention, the official version of the story became that Lin Shuyue was forced to reconcile with her ex-boyfriend, Little Yellow Hair, at knifepoint.
I happened to be passing by, and at that critical moment, risking being stabbed by a sharp blade, I bravely stepped forward and ultimately disarmed the assailant with my bare hands, a heroic story.
This is also contributing to the submission of my application for “Top Ten Outstanding Youths of the City”.
Only now do I finally understand. Perhaps what we see with our own eyes is not necessarily the truth.
That evening, after leaving the laboratory building, Jingyan and I strolled through the grove of trees where I had “acted bravely” during the day.
Moonlight filtered through the dense foliage, casting dappled shadows on the ground. All that remained were the chirping of insects and the soft sound of our footsteps.
“Xuanyu~”
Jingyan, who was walking hand in hand with me, suddenly turned in front of me and hugged me tightly with her soft, delicate body.
Her full breasts pressed against my back through her thin shirt, and I could even feel the outline of her nipples.
“I never expected this. Today really scared me to death. When I got the news that you got into a fight with someone at school and even used a knife, I was so scared that I thought you were injured.” Jingyan twisted her upper body from side to side, letting her full breasts rub against my chest, making me feel itchy.
But those huge breasts were holding Zhao Chenyu’s penis just yesterday…
“But you look really handsome today!” Jingyan’s tone was full of dependence on me. She raised her head and her big, watery eyes shone brightly in the dim moonlight. In my eyes, her lips were getting closer and closer to me.
“Mmm~” A soft sensation made my whole body go numb, and then a wet, sticky pink tongue slipped into my mouth. The tongue skillfully explored my oral cavity, exchanging loving saliva with me.
But this same tongue was licking Zhao Chenyu’s penis just yesterday.
“Pop—” I grabbed Jingyan’s arm and pushed her back, our lips parting instantly. “Hmm?” Opening my eyes, I saw Jingyan’s rosy cheeks and a puzzled expression.
“What’s wrong, Xuanyu?” Jingyan’s tongue circled around her lips, a brief moment that was both shy and erotic.
“N-nothing…” I didn’t know how to express it. “Xuanyu~” Jingyan threw herself into my arms again, murmuring my name in a pleading, kitten-like tone, “Touch me…”
“Touch? Touch where?” Jingyan’s lips brushed against my neck, her warm breath and the cool autumn breeze alternating, gradually dispelling the disgust and wariness that had just risen within me.
“What do you think~” Jingyan swayed her pert buttocks from side to side, blatantly seducing me.
But those very buttocks, which were swaying in front of Zhao Chenyu just yesterday,
I don’t know how Jingyan did it. Yesterday she was still enjoying herself under another man, but today her attitude towards me is not only without any hesitation or guilt, but she is even more insightful than the girl who was full of worries but still clung to me before.
This reminds me of Aunt Ouyang—is this what mother and daughter are like?
“Xuanyu~ Can you touch me~” Jingyan raised her head, her eyes slightly narrowed with a hazy pink desire in her pupils, her lips pouting, and glistening saliva on them.
My hand slid down her slender waist and finally covered her round and perky peach-shaped buttocks, which were encased in jeans.
The amazing elasticity and fleshy feel emanating from my palm made my breathing quicken.
“Mmm~” Jingyan let out a satisfied moan, her delicate body instantly going limp against me, her buttocks rubbing against my palm as if seeking more comfort.
My fingers traced the rounded curves of her buttocks, gradually probing towards the deep, full cleft between them. But just then, Jingyan’s buttocks suddenly arched back, pushing my hand away.
“Hmph~ You naughty Xuanyu, you can’t touch me from outside!” Jingyan refused sternly, but then her furrowed brows instantly relaxed, her pretty face flushed, and she shyly added:
“If…if you want to touch me…I’ll let you touch me when we get home, you can touch me as much as you want, you naughty Xuanyu~ I love you so much~ I love you so much~” Jingyan threw herself into my arms again, her face rubbing against my chest, her eyes looking up at me…looking at me. I gazed into Jingyan’s eyes, and in those pure eyes, as calm as a lake, all I could see was myself, completely enveloped by her intense, unyielding love.
But it was those same eyes that were so obedient and docile as they stared at Zhao Chenyu yesterday. Feeling the softness of Jingyan’s delicate body, I truly understood that Jingyan had indeed become more and more attached to me.
Just like what Zhao Chenyu showed in those videos, she was completely immersed in this rollercoaster of extreme emotions of “making mistakes” and “atonement,” unable to extricate herself.
If my love with Jingyan before was a sweet, innocent pink, then now it has completely turned into a raging, fiery crimson. It is full of passion, and also full of danger.
I held Jingyan tightly in my arms. This delicate body that I had known for over twenty years, this body that I had watched grow up, I thought I knew her very well, but for a moment it felt incredibly unfamiliar to me.
Humans will only ever have passion for things that are unfamiliar…
I don’t know what’s real and what’s fake anymore. Or rather, I don’t care anymore. Even if this hug is fake, I’ll still hold on to it.
But it’s real, she’s real, and the love is real…
Jingyan’s gaze, and the reminder Chief Weng gave me at the police station this afternoon, temporarily put aside that extremely crazy idea in my mind.
However, I absolutely cannot forgive Zhao Chenyu.
The next day, in my mother’s counseling office, I suppressed my anger and watched the scene unfold before me.
“Xiao Zhao, organize these record sheets and seal them in a file folder,” Mom instructed calmly, sitting behind her desk.
“Okay, sort them and put them in the third cabinet on the left.” Zhao Chenyu, dressed in a casual suit, said this while refilling his mother’s cup with water. After pouring the water, he skillfully began to organize several documents on the table, muttering his mother’s words.
My mother smiled gently, yet she was so charming.
“Have you finished the PPT I asked you to make?” Mom elegantly picked up her teacup and took a sip. Her beige business suit perfectly accentuated her curvaceous and alluring figure.
She just watched Zhao Chenyu tidy up, without saying whether it was too hot or too cold. It seemed that the water temperature Zhao Chenyu poured was just right for her.
“It’s done.” Zhao Chenyu closed the cabinet door, his voice carrying a hint of self-satisfaction.
“Let me see it.” Mom turned the screen of her thin and light laptop on the table toward Zhao Chenyu.
“Okay!” Zhao Chenyu took out a USB drive from his pocket and showed the PPT to his mother. I had no interest at all and didn’t go over, but Zhao Chenyu and his mother were looking at the same screen, so their heads naturally got very close.
From my perspective, his disgusting profile was almost touching my mother’s mature and fragrant cheek. This resemblance was so striking that it instinctively aroused my jealousy.
“Hmm~ This light green style is nice, better than the previous light blue. Blue is a color that can easily make people feel depressed. The reason why our office is decorated in warmer colors is to make people who come in for consultations feel the warmth of the environment,” Mom explained to Zhao Chenyu.
“Oh~ I see~” Zhao Chenyu looked like a well-behaved student who had just realized something, but looking at his feigned innocent face, I felt utterly disgusted.
“I don’t think your black suit is suitable for you today, and that’s why. Hehe, but I see you really like blue, don’t you?” Zhao Chenyu suddenly said, boldly using the pronoun “you”.
“Huh?” Mom was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and said, “Because blue is the color of the sky.”
“Okay, this PPT is pretty good. It’s basically done according to my requirements. It’s better than what my PhD classmates did. I can tell you put a lot of effort into it.” Mom didn’t hold back her praise for Zhao Chenyu.
“Every little thing you do is my top priority.”
Zhao Chenyu didn’t say much, but as he spoke, he patted his chest with his hand, his tone extremely serious, which brought a very pleased and satisfied smile to his mother’s face.
“Alright, unplug the USB drive.” After his mother finished speaking, Zhao Chenyu stretched his arm over the computer, his elbow only centimeters away from his mother’s chest. “Wait a minute!”
Just as Zhao Chenyu’s hand was about to touch the USB drive, his mother suddenly called out to him in a somewhat urgent manner.
Zhao Chenyu was stunned. He suddenly pulled his hand back, and his mother, in order to stop him, also leaned forward subconsciously. In just a moment, his hard elbow slid hard across his mother’s extremely soft breasts.
It was less of a slip and more of a collision.
I watched as my mother’s ample breasts first formed a visible indentation, and then, in the next instant, they rebounded violently, creating waves of trembling, surging milk.
“Ah—” Mom’s body trembled, and a few drops of water from the cup in her hand splashed directly onto the collar of her white shirt.
“Mom~” I couldn’t sit still any longer and hurriedly got up.
“Aunt Liu~ Hurry up and wipe!” Zhao Chenyu reacted immediately, quickly pulling out a few tissues and shoving them at his mother’s chest. “Get out of the way!” I stepped forward and grabbed Zhao Chenyu’s unruly arm.
“Give it to me~” Mom took the tissue from Zhao Chenyu’s hand and, without any hesitation, wiped her shirt right in front of me and Zhao Chenyu.
But this simple, repetitive movement caused her breasts, which had not yet completely calmed down, to sway seductively from side to side.
“Aunt Liu, I’m so sorry~” Zhao Chenyu apologized hurriedly.
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault. I was the one who stopped you. You can leave your USB drive here for now,” the mother explained why she had stopped Zhao Chenyu.
At the same time, I could clearly see that a charming blush had appeared on my mother’s dignified and beautiful face.
“Huh? Well… okay.” Zhao Chenyu hesitated for a moment but still agreed.
I immediately let go of his arm.
Damn it, I wish I could break that unruly arm of his right there and then.
Just as the three of us were looking at each other in bewilderment, a few soft knocks came from the door.
I turned my head and saw a head peeking through the crack in the door. It was someone I had only recently met—Lin Shuyue.
“Excuse me, is Teacher Liu here?” Lin Shuyue, dressed in an elegant horse-face skirt, looked even taller and exuded a classic charm. She nervously gripped the doorframe and cautiously asked as she entered.
“Is this Shuyue? Come in.” The mother recognized the girl from what happened last time and smiled gently.
“Teacher Liu…do you have an appointment now?” As soon as Lin Shuyue entered the room, she glanced at me quickly, then lowered her head shyly, folded her small hands in front of her, and asked her mother respectfully.
“Shuyue’s here for a consultation? I happen to have some free time. Xuanyu, Chenyu, you two can go out for a bit. Shuyue, please have a seat.” The mother said, gesturing to Lin Shuyue.
She gestured for Zhao Chenyu and me to leave. But why did she call us by our names so intimately? “Xuanyu Chenyu”… Damn it, I felt nauseous.
“You, come with me for a moment.” I said to Zhao Chenyu in a cold voice as we stepped out the door.
He didn’t say anything, just nodded, and followed me into the men’s restroom next to the office.
“Bang!”
Without uttering a single word, the instant I locked the door behind me, I turned around abruptly, raised my foot, and kicked him hard in the stomach.
My kick, delivered with all my might, sent him staggering backward several steps, his back slamming heavily against the cold tile wall with a dull thud.
“Ugh!”
A scream of extreme agony erupted from Zhao Chenyu’s mouth.
I rushed forward, grabbed his collar, and slammed him against the wall, pinning him there firmly.
The other fist, like a dense rain of blows, slammed into his face and body.
“Thump! Crack! Bang!”
“Ah—! Stop hitting me! Help!”
“I told you not to harass my sister!” I roared, punching him right in the eye socket.
“ah!”
“I told you not to harass my mom!” Another punch landed on his nose.
“Holy shit! Murder!” Zhao Chenyu was still screaming in agony.
I instantly recalled the feeling of that cold dagger when it stabbed me in my dream; I recalled the feeling of yesterday when I pinned that blond kid to the ground and beat him up.
The boiling blood surging through my veins made me completely lose my mind, and I began to punch and kick him with the most frenzied force.
Strangely, Zhao Chenyu didn’t resist at all throughout. He just used his arms to protect his head perfunctorily, letting my punches and kicks fall on him.
The only disproportionate thing was his increasingly shrill and loud screams, as if I wasn’t hitting him, but rather I was cruelly torturing his body with some kind of branding iron.
His exaggerated screams indeed attracted a lot of attention. The toilet door was pounded on loudly by people outside, accompanied by anxious inquiries.
I stopped what I was doing, panting heavily, and looked at Zhao Chenyu, who was huddled in the corner with a bruised and swollen face. I felt a sense of satisfaction, but also a chill in my heart.
A male teacher who had heard the commotion rushed into the restroom and pulled me away.
Then, Mom appeared at the door. Looking at the mess inside, she forced herself to remain calm and asked, “Xuanyu, what are you doing?” I didn’t say anything, but just stared intently at Zhao Chenyu, who was curled up in a ball. My chest heaved violently, I was breathing heavily, and my clenched fists were still trembling uncontrollably.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Tong, please leave this to me.” The mother apologized to the teacher and then walked into the small men’s restroom.
She didn’t look at me. Instead, she first helped Zhao Chenyu up from the ground, then turned her head and glared at me with an extremely cold look, ordering, “Xuanyu, come here.”
Inside the medical room.
“Oh, it’s you again,” the nurse said in a nonchalant tone as she skillfully applied medicine to Zhao Chenyu’s wound. “You look like a pretty strong young man, how come you’re always getting injured? You come to our clinic more often than Liu Bei visited Zhuge Liang three times back then.”
After applying the medicine, she checked again and said it wasn’t a big problem, just superficial injuries. Perhaps to ease the tense atmosphere in the room, she even cracked a joke. “Thank you so much, you’ve really gone to so much trouble,” Mom said, sitting on the edge of the bed and forcing a smile at the nurse.
“It’s alright. To be honest, I don’t know whether to call you Student Liu or Teacher Liu.” The nurse said with a smile after packing up her things.
Xuanman stood behind her mother, staring straight at me. If my mother hadn’t been holding her arm, I felt she would have rushed over and punched me.
“Xuanyu~” Jingyan also stood behind me, hugging my arm with her soft body, while her other hand gently soothed my back.
“Xuanyu… what exactly happened?” With only my family and Zhao Chenyu left in the room, my mother finally spoke, asking coldly.
“What? What’s going on? You little beast, I haven’t finished speaking yet.”
“If you curse again—” Xuanman suddenly roared, her ear-piercing voice making the glass in the room seem about to shake. “Xuanman!” Her mother held Xuanman tightly, who was on the verge of exploding, then turned to me and said in a weary tone:
“If it were your sister and Zhao Chenyu’s situation, they would be in a relationship on their own, and your parents would at most try to persuade them. But for you to fight like this at school…” Mom sighed heavily, her voice full of disappointment.
“Mom has only been at the school for two months, and she’s already caused several accidents. If this continues, Mom won’t be able to stay at the school anymore.” Mom hesitated for a moment before saying this.
“Mom, I…” Seeing the sad and helpless expression on my mother’s face, my heart ached slightly.
“It’s okay, Aunt Liu, I won’t say anything nonsense. I’ll just pretend I fell.” Zhao Chenyu muttered at just the right moment. His mother smiled gently at him to reassure him.
“Shut up, it’s none of your business to speak!”
“Shut up!” I had just finished scolding Zhao Chenyu when Xuan Man’s even sharper and angrier shouts drowned out my words.
I gazed at Xuanman, and Xuanman gazed back at me.
There was a time when her eyes were full of dependence on and admiration for me, her older brother.
But now all that remained was a burning rage.
A few seconds later, her anger subsided, and I saw that her eyes, which were full of disappointment, slowly welled up with tears.
“Brother,” her lips began to tremble, and tears finally slid down her delicate cheeks, “I never imagined you would be such a…violent person.”
“Then ask him, let him tell you what he did, and see if he dares to say it!” I pointed at Zhao Chenyu with my chin towards Xuanman, but as soon as I finished speaking, I felt a tight restraint on my arm.
It was Jingyan. She gripped my arm tightly, and I could feel her hand trembling uncontrollably.
My mother and Xuanman’s eyes, following my words, both fell on Zhao Chenyu’s bruised and battered face.
Zhao Chenyu simply watched Xuan Man, who was in tears, his eyes filled with heartache, without saying a word.
“Jingyan… has Xiao Zhao been harassing you?” My mother suddenly turned her head and looked at Jingyan next to me with her all-seeing eyes, and asked abruptly.
My mother’s sudden question made my heart skip a beat.
What will Jingyan say?
“No…no…but…” Jingyan’s body stiffened noticeably, her eyes darting away, and she hesitated before speaking, “Zhao Chenyu…he did harass other girls in the student council, this…”
“That happened before, Chenyu told me all about it.”
Before Jingyan could finish speaking, Xuanman immediately interrupted her loudly. The instant Xuanman interrupted her, Jingyan let out a barely audible sigh of relief.
I could also sense that Jingyan didn’t want to, or rather, dared not say any more.
The Jingyan who used to hate Zhao Chenyu has disappeared, which makes me think of Aunt Ouyang, who was acting extremely strangely behind my mother on my mother’s birthday.
“Besides, Chenyu only spends time with me, or he’s on duty with you, Mom, or Aunt Ouyang asks him to drive, and he also has to go to class. He doesn’t have that much time!” Xuanman continued to “explain,” and her words gradually eased her mother’s furrowed brows.
“Alright, Jingyan and Xuanyu, you two stay here for now. Xuanman, you take Zhao Chenyu back with you.” I don’t know why my mother took the injured Zhao Chenyu away from the infirmary, but left Jingyan and me behind.
“Chenyu-ge~ let’s go home!” Xuanman, pulling Zhao Chenyu’s arm, warned Jingyan, who was holding my arm, as she passed by me: “Sis! You better keep an eye on your boyfriend!”
After saying that, she pulled Zhao Chenyu away in a grand manner.
I turned to look at Jingyan. Her expression was conflicted and complicated. Even I, who knew the truth, couldn’t understand her feelings at that moment.
“Xuanyu~” My mother’s call made me turn my gaze to her. My mother continued:
“Mom knows you’re not that kind of child. You hate Zhao Chenyu so much, but that doesn’t mean you have to punch and kick him. This isn’t the first time, and besides, he’s your sister’s boyfriend now.”
“And Jingyan, I always feel something’s not right about this. Even if we disregard this matter, you and your mother are still ignoring each other. Have you been ignoring everything I said to you before?” My mother’s tone wasn’t harsh, but it was very serious, which made Jingyan shrink back behind me in fright.
“It seems that the people I, as a psychological counselor, should be counseling most are my own son and future daughter-in-law.”
After leaving the clinic, Mom went straight to Xuanman’s house. And for some time afterward, Mom stayed at Xuanman’s house.
