After venting his anger on the sunflower, Ding Shuang lay back on his bed, and he once again recalled the dream that terrified him yet remained vivid in his memory.
Ding Shuang glanced at the system progress bar, which was already at 99%. She remembered how her previous sexual encounter with Sunflower had accelerated the system synchronization process. Ding Shuang’s biggest worry was that it wasn’t a dream, but rather something that had actually happened in the real world during the system’s shutdown.
Because the dream was so real and so vivid, he could only remember a small part of his dreams in the past, but this time all the details of the dream were imprinted in his mind.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through Ding Shuang’s mind. Wait a minute, how could the Doctor be Han Rongbing’s father? Wan Qiuyue once said that the Doctor couldn’t possibly be in the country.
And then there’s Wan Xiaoliu. If it were so easy for the doctor to catch her, why would he need to contact himself, who’s “far away in South Korea”? It’s also strange that the landlady and Wan Qiuyue were caught. The landlady has two skilled bodyguards, and Wan Qiuyue is a skilled fighter herself, with a military background, so it’s even more impossible for her to be caught.
Qu Fenyan’s situation is also very strange. No one knows about my relationship with Qu Fenyan except for myself and Qu Fenyan. If the doctor has such great power to find out about this matter, why doesn’t he dare to appear in the country?
Ding Shuang speculated that perhaps the fact that the four women on the Dou Qi Continent were gang-raped by that Hun Dan and his men had left him with considerable psychological trauma, so he was asking for the area of that trauma… uh… no, what kind of trauma area is he asking for!
That incident must have amplified his fears, making him worry that if he couldn’t protect Ding Fei, she would fall into the Doctor’s clutches. Not only that, but it would also bring trouble to those around him. It seems he’s still not strong enough!
Damn it! When will I ever get that kind of power that can dominate the world? And now all my cultivation is wasted, who knows how long it will take to recover? I glanced at the system synchronization and it’s still 1% off. I can only wait for the system to log back on and ask again.
Sleepiness gradually enveloped Ding Shuang, and he fell into a deep sleep.
When Ding Shuang woke up in the morning, she opened her eyes and found a beautiful married woman sitting in front of her. She had short pink hair and a diamond-shaped mark on her forehead. “Isn’t that Haruno Sakura? She should be called Uchiha Sakura now.”
“You, you’re awake. How are you? Does your head still hurt?” Xiaoying placed her hand on Ding Shuang’s forehead, and a surge of energy flowed in, making Ding Shuang feel clear-headed.
Ding Shuang carefully observed Sakura. He hadn’t watched Boruto and didn’t know much about what Sakura, the married woman, looked like. He had previously guessed Sakura’s identity by her distinctive hair color and the diamond-shaped mark between her eyebrows.
Ding Shuang noticed that Sakura’s face was flushed, which felt a little strange. Ding Shuang usually only saw girls blush like that when they were shy. Why was Sakura blushing too? Holy crap! Could something have happened between me and Sakura during my amnesia? Ding Shuang glanced around; only he and Sakura were in the room.
“Hinata is cooking, Boruto is going on a mission, and Himawari is going to school. They’re all having breakfast downstairs.” Sakura noticed Ding Shuang’s eyes darting around and knew he was looking for the others.
Sakura’s blush was indeed because of Ding Shuang, but not because of anything they had done together. Hinata had invited her today to check on Ding Shuang’s injuries, and since their families were close, she came on her own. As soon as she entered, she saw Ding Shuang lying on the bed, and what was striking was that the thin blanket covering Ding Shuang was bulging high, making Sakura’s heart tremble. How could it be so big? This was a size she had never seen before.
“Silver Man, why don’t you greet me? You used to be so polite.” Seeing that Ding Shuang hadn’t spoken for a while, Sakura asked with a puzzled look, thinking that Ding Shuang hadn’t fully recovered yet.
“You…you are?” Ding Shuang had a sudden idea. Since he had no memory of the past, he might as well just pretend to have amnesia. He looked at Xiao Ying with a puzzled expression, pretending not to recognize her.
“Huh? No way? Do you know who Naruto, Hinata, Boruto, and Himawari are?” Sakura looked at Ding Shuang in shock, unable to believe that Ding Shuang had lost his memory. However, remembering Ding Shuang’s honest and simple appearance in the past, she felt that Ding Shuang was probably not joking with her.
“Naruto, Hinata, Boruto, Himawari… They, they… Oh right, Hinata, Boruto, and Himawari are eating downstairs. Are you Naruto’s aunt?” Ding Shuang looked at Sakura with a questioning expression, but inwardly he laughed out loud. Hahaha, Naruto’s aunt, I’m a fucking genius!
“No, no, I’m not Naruto! I’m Aunt Sakura! Do you remember who you are?” Sakura shook her head repeatedly and continued to ask Ding Shuang questions.
“Who am I? I…I…Aunt Sakura, you just called me Silver Man, am I Silver Man?” Ding Shuang continued to look at Sakura with a questioning expression, which made Sakura frown repeatedly.
“Uh, this seems a bit troublesome. You lie still, I’ll go downstairs to find Hinata.” Sakura withdrew her hand from Ding Shuang’s forehead and hurriedly left downstairs. Soon, Sakura brought Hinata to Ding Shuang’s room, with Boruto and Himawari following behind the two girls.
“Wow, Boruto, I heard from Aunt Sakura that you have amnesia? Do you remember who I am? I’m your brother!” Boruto rushed into the house and started acting silly in front of Ding Shuang.
“Boruto, stop messing around!” Sakura flicked Boruto’s finger, sending him flying to a corner of the room. Ding Shuang jumped up in fright; wasn’t this guy even more energetic than Boruto?
“Boruto, stop fooling around!” Hinata looked at Boruto seriously, startling him so much that he immediately shut his mouth before he could retort.
“Boruto deserves it.” Himawari rolled her eyes.
“Silver Man, do you know them?” Sakura ignored Boruto, whom she had just knocked away, and asked Ding Shuang, pointing at the people in the room.
“Them?” Ding Shuang looked around at the people and slowly shook her head.
“How could this happen, Sakura? Gintoki was perfectly fine yesterday.” Hinata stared at Ding Shuang with a worried expression, seemingly unable to believe that Ding Shuang had lost his memory.
“Yesterday?” Ding Shuang pretended to look at everyone with a blank expression. Since she was already pretending to have amnesia, she might as well forget about last night too. What would she say if they asked her later? Last night, I wanted to pee, and I heard Hinata and Boruto having sex, and they even fucked Himawari! I’m just a useless person, I could be silenced in a heartbeat!
“Huh? Silly brother doesn’t even remember what happened yesterday?” Sunflower was the first to exclaim in surprise. She had been having sex with Ding Shuang for a long time last night.
“She was perfectly fine when she woke up last night, but she has amnesia this morning? It’s possible that she didn’t fully recover last night and was stimulated by something.” After hearing Sakura’s words, Himawari and Hinata’s expressions both changed.
Himawari thinks that it might be because she insisted on having sex with Ding Shuang that Ding Shuang’s condition worsened. Hinata, on the other hand, wonders if Ding Shuang’s discovery of her incestuous relationship with Boruto last night caused him to suffer a shock and lose his memory.
“Silver Man, you woke up yesterday and said you had a dream. Han Rongbing, Ding Fei, and Ya what? Oh right, Ya Fei, do you remember these three names?” Hinata came to Ding Shuang’s side, knelt down, her face full of worry.
“Hmm… I don’t remember. Who were those people? My family?” Ding Shuang felt a bit troubled. He should have pretended to have amnesia last night, but when he woke up yesterday, he had no idea that he had been living in the Naruto world for 20 years, and he had no memory of those 20 years.
“Sigh, it seems I won’t get any results from this.” Sakura shook her head, sighed, and stood up. She was helpless about Ding Shuang’s current situation.
“Silver Man, I’m your mother. This is your younger brother, Boruto Uzumaki. This is your younger sister, Himawari Uzumaki. I’ll tell you more when Daddy comes back. We’re all your family. Your clothes are in the closet over there. Go change and come downstairs for dinner. Aunt Sakura will take you to the hospital for a checkup later.” Hinata saw that Sakura had no clue about Ding Shuang’s condition, so she could only give Ding Shuang a brief introduction to the family members before taking Boruto and Himawari away.
Ding Shuang breathed a sigh of relief when she realized she had gotten away with it. She glanced at the system’s progress bar, which was still at 99%, frowned, and got up to change her clothes.
Ding Shuang changed her clothes and went downstairs to the dining room. Only Hinata and Sakura were sitting at the table. It seemed that Boruto and Himawari had already gone out.
Hinata invited Ding Shuang over for breakfast, and a standard Japanese breakfast was laid out. As Ding Shuang ate, he secretly admired Hinata’s excellent cooking skills, which were almost on par with his own. Naruto really did marry a good wife!
After dinner, Hinata insisted on accompanying Ding Shuang to the hospital for a checkup, so Ding Shuang, Hinata, and Sakura went together. After numerous tests, they were unable to determine the cause of Ding Shuang’s amnesia, and therefore could not provide a suitable treatment plan.
Left with no other option, Hinata took Ding Shuang away from the hospital. Sakura also told Hinata not to worry too much, that she would ask Tsunade for advice, and gave Ding Shuang some suggestions, telling her to rest at home for the time being.
Back home, Hinata prepared lunch and told Ding Shuang to go upstairs and rest, promising to call him when it was ready. Ding Shuang returned to his room and opened the system interface, only to find the system’s progress bar still at 99%, which annoyed him. So much time had passed since last night, why was it still at 99%? Calling the system didn’t work; could it be frozen?
Ding Shuang recalled that when downloading adult films in the real world, some films would get stuck at 99% and wouldn’t download for days. Some people called it the 99% curse. Could the system have this problem too?
Helpless, Ding Shuang didn’t want to rest at this moment. He already felt that there was nothing wrong with his body. The amnesia was just an act. After thinking about it, he thought it would be better to go and talk to Hinata to get some information.
“Hey, Silver Man, why are you downstairs? Mom was just about to go grocery shopping. You can go back upstairs and rest for a while.” Hinata was carrying a shopping basket and was about to leave when she saw Ding Shuang at the bottom of the stairs.
“Mom, Mom, let me go with you. Can you tell me about the past?” Ding Shuang was free anyway, so she might as well go grocery shopping with Hinata and find out how she had lived for the past 20 years.
“Huh? But Sakura told you to stay home and rest more, and not to run around everywhere.” Hinata looked troubled, seemingly unwilling to let Ding Shuang go out.
“It’s okay, Mom. I feel great now, and I really want to regain my memories. Aunt Ying said that seeing familiar things might help me remember them.” Ding Shuang used a reason she overheard at the hospital.
“Alright then, you and Mom go grocery shopping together, and Mom will show you around the neighborhood too.” Hinata thought about it and felt that Ding Shuang’s words made sense, so she agreed to take him out for a walk.
Ding Shuang and Hinata went out together, walking side by side on the street. Ding Shuang is almost 20 years old and is a head taller than Hinata. Many people greeted them as they walked, and after each person they met, Hinata would quietly tell Ding Shuang who the person was, then see if Ding Shuang could remember anything.
However, these people were just minor characters in the Naruto world, whom Ding Shuang didn’t recognize. Besides, he hadn’t watched Boruto, and had only heard some plot details from his bar colleagues during casual conversations; he wasn’t even familiar with the appearances of many of the new characters.
After buying groceries, the two headed home. Hinata showed Ding Shuang the surroundings along the way, noticing that he was also unfamiliar with the area. Ding Shuang had mainly watched Naruto for the plot and action, paying little attention to the layout of Konoha Village. He only knew that the Hokage Building was a circular structure and that there was a Hokage Mountain with the portraits of past Hokage.
The two didn’t pass the Hokage Building on their way to buy groceries, but they could see Hokage Mountain in the distance. Hinata introduced Ding Shuang to the past Hokage, explaining that the Fourth Hokage was his grandfather and the Seventh Hokage was his father. Ding Shuang also received shocking news: Naruto’s mother, Kushina Uzumaki, was still alive! However, she didn’t live with them; Hinata planned to take them to visit her after Boruto returned from his mission.
Ding Shuang discovered that this world was somewhat different. Currently, Konoha Village was being managed by the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade, while Naruto was away on missions and rarely returned. Only these two were still alive in Konoha; the other five had all passed away. This was vastly different from the storyline Ding Shuang knew. He knew that Tsunade and Kakashi had retired, and Kakashi wasn’t dead, was he?
Hinata told Ding Shuang many interesting stories about her family over the course of an afternoon, and Ding Shuang finally realized what kind of person she had been for the past twenty years.
Yesterday, when Hinata called him “Silly Brother,” Ding Shuang thought he had been mentally challenged during the period when his memories were sealed. But according to Hinata, he was just a slow-witted, somewhat simple-minded, and dull boy with a poor memory.
However, he was still bullied by his classmates, but fortunately, Boruto, Himawari, and Metal Lee protected him and he didn’t suffer too much injustice.
The reason Metal Lee protected Ding Shuang was because his father, Rock Lee, was Ding Shuang’s master. Ding Shuang’s body couldn’t cultivate chakra, but he refused to give up and secretly trained in taijutsu in the forest. Later, Rock Lee discovered him and, moved by his own efforts, took Ding Shuang as his disciple and taught him every day. However, Ding Shuang remained the worst student in his class.
Upon hearing this, Ding Shuang was speechless. No wonder she found several bodysuits identical to Xiao Li’s in her closet that morning; it turned out that kid was actually her master! Damn it, I’m never going to wear such embarrassing clothes out again.
However, Hinata mentioned before that she used to really like that outfit and wore it every day, so she was a little unaccustomed to seeing Ding Shuang wearing casual clothes today.
Ding Shuang roared inwardly, “Damn it! How long have I been wearing these clothes? Even Hinata feels uncomfortable in casual clothes!”
Most importantly, Ding Shuang’s injury was caused by Xiao Li. According to Xiao Li, during their sparring session, Ding Shuang suddenly became distracted for some reason and failed to move when he was supposed to be defending. Xiao Li, unable to control his strength, kicked Ding Shuang unconscious.
Ding Shuang sighed silently, recalling that she had suddenly felt a heavy blow to the head after hearing the system’s voice. She couldn’t blame Xiao Li for this; it was just that the system restarted at the wrong time.
When it was time for dinner, Sunflower returned home, accompanied by Ding Shuang’s cheap tutor, Li Luoke.
“Silver Man! You’re finally awake? I’m so glad you’re alright!” Xiao Li arrived in front of Ding Shuang with bags and bags of gifts.
“You…you are?” Ding Shuang recognized the man with thick eyebrows and round eyes as Rock Lee, since she herself had amnesia.
“Young man! You don’t recognize your master?” Xiao Li stared at Ding Shuang in disbelief, looking utterly astonished.
“Uncle Li, Silver Man has lost his memory.” Sunflower explained Ding Shuang’s current situation to Li Luoke, and Li Luoke was moved to tears and felt extremely guilty.
Hinata eventually persuaded Rock Lee to go back. Before leaving, Rock Lee asked Ding Shuang to continue training the next day, but Hinata sternly refused.
Boruto’s mission required him to be away for a week, so only Ding Shuang, Hinata, and Himawari ate dinner together. The three chatted as they ate, with Hinata and Himawari recounting Ding Shuang’s past to help him regain his memories. Ding Shuang pieced together useful information from their words, but what he got were mostly mundane daily details.
“Brother Benben, the Chunin Exams are coming up soon, are you still able to participate?” After finishing their meal, Ding Shuang and Himawari were still chatting at the table. When the topic of the Chunin Exams came up, Himawari remembered that Ding Shuang was really looking forward to them.
“No! We can’t let your brother participate!” Hinata, who was washing dishes, heard Himawari asking Ding Shuang if he was going to participate in the Chunin Exams and decisively refused.
“Uh…” Ding Shuang originally wanted to participate, after all, there was still a month until the Chunin Exams. Although the system synchronization was still stuck at 99%, a month should be enough time to download, no, to finish synchronizing. But Hinata’s refusal was so decisive that Ding Shuang didn’t know what to say.
“Mom, Aunt Sakura said that seeing familiar people, seeing familiar things, and doing familiar things can help Benben regain his memories. Participating in the Chunin Exams has always been Benben’s wish.” During the meal, Ding Shuang and Hinata also told Himawari about the diagnosis at the hospital.
“No means no! You can’t participate in the Chunin Exams until Silver Man regains his memories!” Hinata turned around to look at Ding Shuang and Himawari, her refusal still very decisive.
“Mom, I think Himawari is right. Doing things I want to do and things I love might help me regain my memories. I just heard Himawari mention the Chunin Exams, and it sounded familiar.” Ding Shuang continued Himawari’s words, thinking that since he had come to the Naruto world, he should take the opportunity to participate in the Chunin Exams and experience it.
“But, but…” Hinata was still worried about Ding Shuang’s physical condition, and since Ding Shuang had no chakra, the Chunin Exams would be too dangerous for him.
“It’s okay, Mom. I’ll take good care of Benben-nii-nii. You can rest assured and let him participate.” Himawari patted her little chest and assured Hinata.
During the period when his memories were sealed, Ding Shuang never participated in the Chunin Exams. After all, in everyone’s eyes, he was a good-for-nothing. If Naruto hadn’t been the Hokage, he wouldn’t have even been able to get into the Ninja Academy, let alone repeat so many grades.
However, with Ding Shuang’s own efforts and later training under Lee, Ding Shuang’s strength improved significantly. He has now graduated from the Ninja Academy and was even assigned to the same class as Himawari. Ding Shuang doesn’t know if Naruto used any connections during this process, but he thinks it probably did.
“Alright then, but it depends on Gintoki’s recovery. If he doesn’t recover well, I still won’t agree to let him participate in the Chunin Exams.” Seeing Ding Shuang’s pleading look, Hinata finally gave in.
That evening, the three returned to their rooms to rest. Ding Shuang began organizing the information she had gathered that day. The world had indeed changed significantly. First, the Chunin Exams now required participants to be at least 16 years old. Himawari was exactly 16 this year, but she looked like she was only 14 or 15. Boruto was 18 and had been a Chunin for two years, recently working hard on missions to try and become a Jonin as soon as possible.
Ding Shuang and Himawari were in Class 6, and another teammate was Sumire Kakei. This surprised Ding Shuang, as she vaguely remembered hearing from a colleague that Sumire was in the same year as Boruto. Moreover, Himawari had mentioned that Sumire was the same age as her, meaning she wasn’t repeating a grade like her. The homeroom teacher of Class 6 was Himawari’s aunt, Hyuga Hanabi, a character Ding Shuang recognized from the original Naruto series.
Currently, the head of the Hyuga clan is Hyuga Neji, while Hyuga Hiashi has passed away. Furthermore, regarding the specific reasons for the deaths of Hyuga Hiashi and Kakashi, Hinata only stated that they sacrificed themselves in the great war 20 years ago.
Ding Shuang didn’t get any further information, and he couldn’t ask too many questions for fear of revealing his secrets. He glanced at the system’s synchronization progress bar, which was still at 99%.
Suddenly, Ding Shuang noticed a small triangle at the end of the progress bar, a triangle she didn’t seem to have seen before. Ding Shuang clicked the small triangle with her mind, and a dialog box immediately popped up.
“Perform final synchronization? Yes/No”
“Fuck your mother! What the hell is this step?!” Ding Shuang exploded upon seeing the dialog box. What kind of ingenious design is this? The final merging requires a manual click? And the triangle click button is so tiny, placed at the end of the progress bar! I thought it was downloading, pshaw! I thought it was syncing!
Ding Shuang suppressed her anger and clicked the “Yes” button, and another dialog box popped up.
“Final synchronization will take 20 hours, during which the host will be unable to move and will suffer great pain. Synchronization cannot be interrupted; if interrupted, synchronization will have to start from the beginning. Do you wish to proceed with final synchronization? Yes/No”
“Holy crap, so that’s why it can’t be interrupted.” Ding Shuang understood why the final synchronization required a click, but he still couldn’t understand why the icon was so small.
“Looks like I need to find a place where I won’t be disturbed to do the final synchronization. I wonder where there is such a place around here?” Ding Shuang closed the chat window and began to think about where to go into seclusion. He was not familiar with the environment here.
Just as Ding Shuang was racking his brains, a petite figure slipped into his bedroom.
