Chapter 75

Although I left with great nonchalance, my stomach was churning inside.

As soon as I came out of the room, I went straight to the bathroom.

Once inside, I immediately locked the door, then grabbed the toilet and vomited violently; I felt like my intestines were about to come out with it.

The bathroom suddenly smelled like a biological weapon had been detonated, the stench almost bringing tears to my eyes.

I vomited into the toilet for a long time, then squatted on the ground to rest. When my stomach felt less painful, I started gagging myself to vomit again.

I don’t know how much more I need to vomit, but I feel like I’ve lost consciousness. My head is spinning, like I’ve been hit hard with a hammer.

“Tang Zheng, how are you?”

Suddenly, Chen Hui’s concerned voice came from outside the door, her tone extremely anxious.

I stood up unsteadily, went to the sink to tidy myself up, rinsed my mouth, washed my face, patted my dizzy head, and then leaned against the wall to come out of the bathroom.

“Tang Zheng, how are you feeling?” Chen Hui rushed forward and supported me, her face full of worry.

I opened my heavy eyelids. “Manager Chen, has the contract been signed yet?”

“It’s signed,” Chen Hui said. “But you’re quite drunk right now, so how about I take you to the hospital for a check-up first?”

I waved my hand and said, “No need, why don’t you take me home first?”

“Are you still able to walk?” Chen Hui asked with some concern.

I nodded firmly. “Yes…”

But I didn’t expect that even though I had vomited a lot, the alcohol was already taking effect. I had only taken one step when I felt like all my strength had been drained away.

My legs involuntarily went weak, and I almost fell to the ground.

Chen Hui quickly used her body to support me, but I was probably too heavy, because I vaguely heard her groan.

But I’m completely out of consciousness now, I’m totally in a daze. Although I keep telling myself to stay awake, it’s like there’s a big drum being pounded in my head, thumping and thumping incessantly.

Moreover, my heart was racing, and I was drenched in sweat, as if I had just been pulled out of the water.

After Chen Hui helped me out of Dafugui, she led me to her car. Then I felt her push me a little, and then she called out to me a few times, “Tang Zheng, where do you live?”

I can’t open my eyes anymore, let alone speak; I’m completely unconscious.

A short while later, the car slowly started moving, and I completely fell into a deep sleep. I have no recollection of what happened next.

When I woke up the next day, I was surprised to find that it was already 11 a.m., and I also realized that I was in a hotel. To make matters worse, I was only wearing shorts.

A sudden chill ran through me. Had I done something unspeakable with Chen Hui last night?

But after thinking about it for a long time, I still couldn’t figure out if I had done anything.

There was a bottle of mineral water on the bedside table. I unscrewed the cap and gulped down a few mouthfuls, then went to the bathroom to wash my face thoroughly, but I still couldn’t remember whether I had done anything last night.

I went back to my room and picked up my phone, only to find a note under it that said, “Consider today a day off. Go back and get some rest once you’ve sobered up. Also, I threw away your clothes from yesterday and left a new set in the bathroom. Wear that for now.”

After reading this note, I wanted to call Chen Hui, but I found that my phone had run out of battery and shut down automatically. I don’t know how things are now, especially whether my cousin knows that I was drunk.

I took a quick shower in the bathroom and found a new set of casual clothes that looked quite expensive.

I tried it on and found that it actually fit quite well.

Although Chen Hui bought it for me, I took it as a reward for closing the deal, so I put it on without any guilt, tidied up, and left the hotel.

However, before I left, I checked carefully and found nothing wrong with the room. It seems I didn’t do anything to offend my cousin last night.

When I finally got back to the room, I found my cousin lying motionless on the bed in her pajamas. I didn’t know if she was asleep or what.

I was immediately startled and rushed over. I gently took my cousin’s hand, only to find that her body temperature was unusually high, her face was flushed, and her lips were pale.

I touched her forehead and was immediately shocked. My cousin had a very high temperature; she had clearly caught a cold.

After a long while, my cousin slowly opened her eyes. The moment she saw it was me, tears welled up in her eyes, and she shoved me aside desperately, yelling, “Go away, go away…”

As she spoke, she struggled to move to the side.

“I don’t need your help!”

My cousin turned to face the wall, but her voice sounded unusually desolate: “I don’t want you to interfere, so stop bothering me.”

But now is not the time to talk about this. I gently pulled my cousin up and whispered in her ear, “Sis, I’ll take you to the hospital first…”

“No…” My cousin shook her head like a rattle-drum, tears streaming down her face like a broken string of pearls. “I’m not your girlfriend, you don’t need to worry about me, go be with your girlfriend…”

When my cousin mentioned a girlfriend, I became even more confused. Had I really done something to offend her last night?

I quickly explained, “Sis, what girlfriend? I don’t know anything about that.”

“I don’t need your help, please let me have some peace and quiet,” my cousin cried, tears streaming down her face. “I’m really confused right now, please leave and don’t bother me!”

Seeing my cousin like this, I panicked even more. “Sis, I really don’t know what you’re talking about. You have a cold. I should take you to the hospital first to prevent other complications.”

Without waiting for my cousin’s consent, I took a coat out of the closet, draped it over her shoulders, and then picked her up from the bed.

“Leave me alone, I don’t want to go to the hospital!”

My cousin, perhaps due to some kind of shock, suddenly burst into tears again. “I don’t want to go to the hospital, please put me down.”

“I won’t let go!”

I said domineeringly, “What would I do if something happened to you?”

“I’m not your girlfriend, why do you care so much about me?” My cousin’s body trembled slightly, she struggled weakly for a few moments, her slender hands tightly gripping her own, tears instantly blurring her vision again. “Go away, go away! I never want to see you again.”

“Sis, what happened?” I asked, confused. “Did I say or do something wrong last night? I really don’t know. I blacked out last night… You also have a cold, let’s go to the hospital, okay?”

“I don’t know, I don’t know anything…” My cousin struggled desperately to get out of my arms. “If you don’t leave, I will!”

Did I really say something bad to my cousin last night?

Seeing my cousin’s reaction, I immediately broke out in a cold sweat. Without thinking twice, I lowered my head and kissed her lips tightly.

“Ugh…” My cousin’s eyes widened suddenly, and she tried desperately to push me away, but I held her tightly in my arms, not letting her move an inch.

After a while, I finally let go of her and found that my cousin’s pretty face had turned even redder. Her small mouth was open, and she said weakly, “You…you want to suffocate me?”

“Sis, I really don’t know what I did last night. If I did anything to offend you, you can hit me or scold me, but you’re sick now, so it’s better if we go to the hospital first.”

I said softly, and then picked up my cousin and headed out the door.

My cousin glanced at me, bit her lip lightly, and said sadly, “No, I don’t want to go to the hospital…”

“But I’m really worried about you looking like this,” I whispered. “Sis, what happened? How did you catch a cold?”

“I’m not your girlfriend, why do you care so much?” My cousin’s tears fell again as she said, “You go out all night having fun, and you can’t even bear to call me. What does it matter to you whether I live or die?”

This time I figured out what was going on. My cousin probably called me last night, and then my phone died.

So I gave a wry smile and said, “Last night I went out to discuss business with my manager, but the other party gave us a hard time right away, so I had to compete with them in drinking. I drank two bottles and they drank one, and then I got drunk. I don’t know what happened, so I didn’t come back. It wasn’t because I went out to have fun.”

“If you weren’t out having affairs, then why did I hear a woman saying you two were having an affair when I called you?” My cousin said, tears streaming down her face, her voice choked with sobs. “So what does my being sick or what has to do with you? I’m just someone you wouldn’t even bother to call.”

My cousin spoke rapidly, her face flushed intensely, which triggered a soft cough.

Seeing how excited she was, I felt a little guilty towards my cousin, so I quickly patted her back gently twice.

Despite her weakness, my cousin seemed to find strength from nowhere. Her whole body felt like it was on fire, her face flushed, yet she clung tightly to me, her voice trembling as she said, “Silly boy, I love you, I really love you…”
