Unless I do something
At this moment, I also felt that my actions just now were somewhat inappropriate, but it was not my fault. It was pitch black last night, and I didn’t see clearly, so it’s no wonder I made a mistake.
But for her tonight to say so openly and blatantly that I did something to her, that’s a bit unreasonable.
You must keep this a secret from me!
Xiaoxiao grabbed the bed sheet and wrapped it around herself, gritting her teeth as she said, “If your girlfriend or Xiaoqin finds out, I’ll never forgive you! And I’ll cut off your little brother!”
”Cut it.”
I instantly felt a chill down my groin. Judging from her expression, she didn’t seem to be joking with me; she might actually do it.
”right!”
Xiao Xiao then said coldly, “Also, you have to promise me one more thing.”
”What is it?” I asked instinctively.
Xiao Xiao thought for a moment and said, “I haven’t thought of anything yet. I’ll tell you when I do, but you need to promise me first, or I’ll tell your girlfriend that you molested me.”
A chill ran down my spine. What if she really told my cousin what I did to her? My cousin would never forgive me, especially since I really did molest her.
”Okay, I promise you.” I said very seriously, “I was wrong just now, I apologize to you.”
”If apologies were enough, what would we need the police for?” Xiao Xiao said coldly. “Don’t even think that I’ll forgive you unless you do what I told you to do. Otherwise, don’t even think about it.”
”Then I’ll wait for your request.” I felt like Xiaoxiao had something on me, and if I didn’t agree, I really didn’t know what she would do.
”Then you can go out now, I need to get dressed.”
I took my change of clothes and went out. When I came back, Xiaoxiao was nowhere to be seen. She probably went back to Wang Qin’s room.
After getting downstairs and into my car, I thought to myself, “What kind of mess is this?”
Luckily, I didn’t do anything to her last night, or I would have been in real trouble.
It seems I still need to control my manhood, otherwise I’m afraid it might cause me some huge trouble, especially when my cousin and Chen Yao are away on business. I spend most of my time with Chen Hui, and who knows if something ambiguous or exciting might happen.
I took out a cigarette, lit it, and took a deep drag. Just then, my phone rang. I glanced at it and saw messages from my cousin and Chen Yao, one after the other.
After replying to each message, I put my phone away and headed to work.
When I arrived at the company, I noticed many people staring at me with rather strange expressions. I couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity, “What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”
”Nothing’s wrong, but was your battle last night a bit too intense?” a colleague said cryptically. “Your lips are even swollen. Did you kiss the top or the bottom and that’s why they’re so swollen?”
”Get lost!”
I cursed under my breath and strode into the office.
Chen Hui had arrived at the office long ago and was busy at her computer. As soon as she saw me, she said, “Tang Zheng, you’ve come at the right time. We may need to go on a business trip for a while.”
”On business trip”
I paused for a moment. “Where to?”
”Go to Tianjin.” Chen Hui frowned and said, “The situation in Tianjin is not very good, so headquarters wants us to go there on a business trip for a while to bring the situation under control.”
I never expected that the business trip would be to Tianjin, such a far place. But it’s impossible not to go. It seems that I’ll have to let my cousin stay with Chen Yao. I’ll feel more at ease knowing that it’s a high-end residential area there, so there shouldn’t be any major problems.
So I nodded and said, “Okay, I’ll go wherever you go.”
”I’ll let you know when the time comes,” Chen Hui said, then added, “Call the people in charge and have a meeting.”
It just so happens that today is Monday, which is also the date of the routine meeting, so the deliveryman won’t be going out anytime soon.
I told the people in the office, and then I went to notify the courier outside that he had arrived. A few minutes later, I gathered with my colleagues from the customer service team in the open space next to the office to wait for Chen Hui.
A short while later, Chen Hui arrived gracefully, briefly mentioned a few points that needed improvement and that needed to be maintained, and also mentioned our upcoming business trip. Then the meeting adjourned.
Chen Hui didn’t go straight back to her office, but instead called me over, saying, “Let’s go to the conference room. I have something to tell you.”
I noticed something was off about her expression; she seemed preoccupied. I had a bad feeling about it, but since she didn’t say anything, I didn’t press her for the reason.
Once they arrived at the conference room, Chen Hui said solemnly, “Tang Zheng, we are going to Tianjin on a mission.”
”Mission?” I was taken aback. “Weren’t we going over there to provide assistance?”
“We were ostensibly there to provide assistance, but in reality, we were there to investigate a case of fraudulent claims.”
Chen Hui frowned and said, “We paid out 200,000 yuan in compensation for this fraudulent claim, but we haven’t been able to find out who the mole is, so we need to go over there to investigate.”
I was stunned again by the term “preliminary investigation.” I thought to myself, “Shouldn’t this be something the police do? How did it become something our own people are doing?”
Chen Hui nodded. “That’s right, so we need to go there on business trips for at least half a month.”
”It will take more than a month to see what exactly happened over there, how such a big thing could have occurred. To be honest, I’m still not entirely sure myself.”
I thought to myself that anyone would be unsure about this situation, let alone someone like me who has never encountered anything like this before. But with Chen Hui leading the way, I figured it wouldn’t be too serious. I just didn’t know if we could find out anything from the investigation.
I said, “Manager Chen, I wonder how much hope you have for this operation?”
Chen Hui shook her head. “We haven’t even set off yet, so it’s a bit too early to talk about hope. But I don’t think our trip will be very smooth. Even if it is, we won’t find anything out, so let’s just hold on to one in ten thousand chance.”
I didn’t expect Chen Hui to be so pessimistic, which means that this matter is not so easy to handle. It makes me feel like I’m knowingly walking into a dangerous situation. But Chen Hui is my sister-in-law and boss, so she shouldn’t betray me.
”Then I’ll do as you say.” I said with a smile, “I’m your subordinate. If you tell me to herd chickens, I won’t chase dogs; if you tell me to go east, I won’t go west.”
Stop flattering him.
Chen Hui rolled her eyes at me and said irritably, “Just don’t let me down. Also, before we go, we need to take control of the headquarters and make sure nothing goes wrong. I was thinking of promoting you to supervisor, but if it’s too fast, people will get suspicious. So I’m going to add a deputy team leader to your delivery team.”
”I’m also going to promote a team leader in customer service. Once you come out of Tianjin, I’ll find a way to promote you to supervisor. But you absolutely mustn’t cause any trouble for me, or it’ll be a real problem.”
When I heard her mention “supervisor,” my eyes almost lit up. If I got promoted, it meant my salary would also increase. And I’d only been with the company for less than six months, yet I’d already been promoted to supervisor. I instantly felt like my future was bright.
”Manager Chen, you are truly a guiding light in my life.” I couldn’t help but laugh. “It seems that following you, I’m about to reach the pinnacle of my life.”
”Come on.”
Chen Hui rolled her eyes at me. “But I won’t treat you badly. However, if I find out one day that you’ve wronged Yao Yao, then I won’t be so polite to you.”
”How could that be?” I patted my chest and said, “Yaoyao is such a good girl. If I let her down, I would feel like I’m not human.”
I originally wanted to tell Chen Hui about Qin Xiao coming to me for revenge last night, but after thinking about it, I decided against it. If I told her, it would feel like I was taking advantage of her kindness.
”I’ll remember what you said. If you ever break this promise, you’ll know what the consequences are.”
Chen Hui put away her playful smile and continued, “As for the delivery team, who do you think should be your deputy? We’re a team, and I need a group of obedient subordinates. If they’re two-faced or disloyal, I’d rather kick them out.”
”I understand.” I nodded. “What do you think of Wang Feng?”
The courier I’m talking about is a senior courier who works hard every day, is responsible for his work, and is very polite to customers.
Unexpectedly, Chen Hui shook her head. “This person won’t do. He’s too honest and lacks the qualities for management. What I value isn’t his ability to do things, but his management skills. How about this, I’ll promote Lin Gaofeng. He’s been with the company long enough, and he’s more composed and capable than Wang Feng.”
After careful consideration, I realized that Lin Gaofeng is much more composed than Wang Feng in handling certain matters, so Chen Hui’s suggestion is quite good.
So I nodded. “This person is not bad either.”
”But Manager Chen, since you already have a plan, why are you asking me?”
”I’m training my ability to judge people. When judging a person, you should not only look at whether they can do things, but also their thinking ability and management ability.”
Chen Hui said irritably, “If I were just going to promote some good-for-nothing, would I waste this spot? There’s not much I can teach you; you’ll have to figure it out yourself. If you ever want to start your own business, at least you won’t get played.”
”You’re right.” I agree with Chen Hui’s words. After all, society is so dangerous these days, and you can’t see into someone’s heart. If you can’t judge people properly, you might end up ruining yourself.
”You also need to handle the customer service situation as soon as possible. I think you can get the hang of it now, right?” Chen Hui looked at me and said very seriously, “If we get to Tianjin, there are two possible outcomes. One is that they will obediently listen to us, which is easy to handle.”
”Another concern is that they might outwardly comply but inwardly defy us, deliberately sabotaging our efforts. This would put us in a very passive position. So you must learn all these skills. It will be much easier for me to promote you later. If you don’t know anything, people will think I’m deliberately causing trouble.”
I nodded vigorously. “You don’t need to worry about that. I’ve basically got the hang of it now, so there shouldn’t be any major problems.”
”Okay, I’m relieved to hear that.” Chen Hui nodded, then added, “But, Tang Zheng, you must remember this.”
”remember”
I paused for a moment, then turned my gaze to Chen Hui.
”These are just basic skills; anyone can do them. If you’re ambitious, you should aim for higher levels instead of just staying at the supervisor or manager position. Don’t you want to be a director or regional manager or something?”
I have to say, Chen Hui’s words were quite tempting. She really was some kind of director or regional manager; the salary must be quite high.
“I can pave the way for you…” Chen Hui suddenly revealed a meaningful smile…
