“Quiet down, students! Quiet down!”
The spacious lecture hall was filled with nearly two hundred students from the entire department, yet it did not feel crowded at all. On the stage stood a handsome man with a fair complexion and an expression that exuded a natural sense of superiority. He was none other than Zheng Yuyang, the president of the department’s student union.
Almost everyone in the classroom was playing on their phones, showing little interest in the meeting or its content. In fact, not many people were chatting. The few who were talking more excitedly were all student council officers and Zheng Yuyang’s lackeys. As soon as he spoke, the classroom quickly quieted down.
“Classmates, I’ll take up a little of your time for a department-wide class meeting.”
“I believe everyone has received some of the information, so I will briefly summarize it.”
“For this year’s school arts festival, the department’s student union decided to shoot a short film as an entry for the competition.”
“Shooting a short film requires actors and funding.”
“As for the actors, I invited Rao Xiaoxiao from our school’s School of Arts. She’s one of our school’s top ten beauties! I encourage everyone to participate actively and get up close and personal with your idol!”
“As for funding, as the president of the department’s student union, I will personally contribute 100,000 yuan, and the eight student union officers will each contribute 10,000 yuan. As for everyone else, we don’t need that much. Each person only needs to crowdfund 1,000 yuan, which will amount to about 300,000 yuan, enough to make a short film.”
Upon hearing that it would cost so much money, the students began to buzz with discussion. Zheng Yuyang, seemingly unconcerned, gave everyone a few minutes to discuss before confidently explaining:
“Why do we need so much money? Let me explain…”
“The reason we need to spend so much money is partly to buy filming equipment and props, and partly…”
“All students who join the short film crew will receive a stipend, and that’s not allowed.”
“Furthermore, the end credits of the movie will include a list of everyone who contributed their time and money. Imagine, in the future, when Rao Xiaoxiao becomes a big star, everyone was a participant in her first starring role. Don’t you think that’s worthwhile?”
“When this work wins an award, it will be an honor for all members of our department, and it will be a highlight on everyone’s resume in the future.”
Zheng Yuyang has a shrewd approach that is different from that of ordinary college students. He invited the campus beauty to play the lead role, which not only generated a lot of buzz, but also attracted other students to join the cast.
They and the student union officers voluntarily contributed half of the funds from their own pockets, leaving no room for criticism.
Then, by offering subsidies, they wooed and divided those willing to join the production team, thus preventing the possibility of students banding together to resist.
His proposal was impeccable. Among the two hundred people present, some were eager to join the group, some looked around and observed the situation, and only a few looked troubled and didn’t know what to do.
Song Ning and Zhao Yi acted as if it were none of their business, waiting to give their gifts and then go shopping for clothes after the event.
Several student council officers split into groups and picked out the eager students to collect money first, while the rest had no choice but to go with the flow.
A thousand yuan may not seem like a lot, but for these students, it’s definitely not a small sum.
“Thank you all for your support! With the joint efforts of all the students, we will definitely create excellent works and achieve good results at the school’s art festival! This honor is inseparable from the efforts of each and every one of us. Thank you all!”
Having achieved his goal, Zheng Yuyang didn’t hold back his compliments and praises; after all, it was just a matter of talking.
The meeting was over, the money had been collected, and the students left the classroom in twos and threes. Zhao Yi pulled Song Ning along, she couldn’t wait any longer. They hadn’t gone far from the classroom when they heard someone call out behind them:
“Wait! Wait a minute, classmate!”
Song Ning and Zhao Yi turned around and saw that it was Zheng Yuyang, the student council president, who had called out to them.
Zheng Yuyang walked up to them and said in a friendly manner:
“Hello, Song Ning and Zhao Yi!”
Zhao Yi was a little displeased and said impatiently:
“I’ve already paid the money, is there anything else you want to do?”
Zheng Yuyang said with a smile:
“I’m sorry, it will take up a little more of your time, just a few words.”
He didn’t give Zhao Yi a chance to refuse, and said directly:
“I’d like to invite Zhao Yi to play the second female lead in this drama! To be honest, if I weren’t afraid of offending Rao Xiaoxiao, Zhao Yi would probably be more qualified to be the female lead. Also, Song Ning, the male lead hasn’t been cast yet. If you’re interested, I’m fully supportive!”
Zheng Yuyang’s words surprised Song Ning and Zhao Yi greatly; they never expected such an outcome. They exchanged a glance, momentarily at a loss for words.
Seeing that the two were no longer so resistant, Zheng Yuyang continued sincerely:
“Please don’t take offense at my bluntness, but actually, participating in the school’s arts festival this time is not only to bring honor to our department, but also to achieve enough results to participate in the selection of the college’s student union president. So I sincerely want to create an excellent work, and I’m asking for your help!”
Song Ning could tell that Zhao Yi was already somewhat tempted. Even if she was the second female lead, how many girls could resist such a temptation?
