I stood in front of the door admiring my mother’s figure for a long time, then pushed the glass door of the office, but it didn’t budge.
I had no choice but to knock on the glass door, the sound attracting my mother’s attention.
She turned around and glanced at me indifferently. Her long, narrow phoenix eyes were calm and still, as if she didn’t care about my arrival at all.
Just when I thought my mother was going to open the door for me, she actually sat back down at her desk and began to examine the documents on it with a focused expression.
Seeing this, I couldn’t help but smile wryly.
Thinking back to what Zhao Qing just said about her mother having a cold face all day, I didn’t expect my mother to be so “petty.” Just a casual remark made in anger could make her hold a grudge for the whole day.
Thinking of my mother’s jealous reaction because of Chu Ning, I felt a sweet warmth in my heart.
I knocked on the door again, but unfortunately the beautiful woman in the office still didn’t respond at all.
I had no choice but to dial my mother’s number, but she didn’t even look up and hung up the phone.
Staring at my phone screen, then glancing at my mother intently working in her office, I was slightly stunned.
Is it really necessary?
…
Is it really worth getting so angry just because Teacher Chu Ning said something hurtful to you?
I waited in front of the door for a long time, admiring my mother’s beautiful and serious demeanor as she worked through the glass door. I watched with great interest and didn’t feel bored at all.
About half an hour later, Zhao Qing came over with the documents. She looked slightly surprised when she saw me being “punished” standing at the door.
I gave her an awkward smile.
Zhao Qing knocked on the glass door of her mother’s office, and the door opened automatically after a few seconds.
I quickly followed Zhao Qing into the office. Zhao Qing put down the documents, and my mother slightly raised her head, revealing her beautiful face.
After her mother whispered a few words of advice, Zhao Qing politely said goodbye to her mother and then left work.
In the early hours of the night, it seemed that only Mom’s office on the entire floor was still lit, creating a dim and eerie atmosphere.
“mom.”
I walked up to my mother with a grin and said, “It’s so late, let’s go home.”
The mother said calmly, “You don’t need to worry about it.”
If they respond to me, then there’s hope; as long as they don’t completely ignore me, that’s fine.
“That won’t do.” I gently wrapped my arm around my mother’s. “What if my dear mother gets exhausted?”
The mother looked slightly puzzled: “Mother?”
“Uh…” I quickly explained, “It’s a respectful and affectionate term for one’s mother.”
“oh…”
Mom gave a lukewarm response.
Seeing that my mother’s reaction wasn’t enthusiastic, I wisely kept quiet about how she had left me standing outside the door for almost half an hour. I took the prepared food out of the insulated containers and placed it on my desk.
Mom frowned slightly: “Move it away, don’t get the documents dirty.”
“Don’t worry! I’m not like Lin Xi, who’s always been clumsy.”
After I finished speaking, I picked up a piece of fish and placed it in front of my mother’s lips.
Mom turned her head away, saying, “I’ve already eaten dinner.”
“Mom, Sister Zhao Qing told me everything. You’ve been working since noon and haven’t had dinner at all!”
Actually, I wasn’t sure if Mom had eaten dinner or not, so I had to take a gamble.
My mother put down her pen and glanced at me with her beautiful eyes: “It seems I need to find a new assistant.”
Looks like I made the right bet!
“No way,” I chuckled. “Wouldn’t it be wrong to let others suffer because of our mother-daughter relationship?”
The mother chuckled softly, “An undeserved disaster? I think you’ve completely bought off Zhao Qing. This is hardly an undeserved disaster for her.”
Despite my mother’s cold expression, I knew she was joking, so I calmly said, “Then let me volunteer. I think I’d be quite suitable to be your assistant.”
Mom scoffed, “You? Don’t you know your own limitations?”
I didn’t take it to heart and continued my banter: “Don’t underestimate the flowers of our nation’s future—no, don’t underestimate the pillars of our nation’s future!”
I brought the fish slice to my mother’s mouth again, as if coaxing a child: “Sweetie, open your mouth.”
My mother found it funny and laughed out loud without thinking. I seized the opportunity and quickly stuffed the fish slice into my mother’s mouth.
My mother gave me a light glare. She hesitated for three or four seconds, but finally began to chew the fish slice in her mouth.
“Good girl.”
I boldly patted my mother’s head.
My mother’s pretty face tightened slightly as she swallowed the fish and gave me a light scolding: “No manners!”
I picked up another piece of fish: “Don’t you like fish? I made this sour fish soup especially for you, have another piece.”
Mom pursed her red lips tightly: “I don’t like sour foods.”
“Well……”
Having lived with you for sixteen years, this is the first time I’ve heard that you don’t like sour foods.
Knowing that my mother was deliberately being stubborn, I put down the sour fish slices in my chopsticks and picked up a piece of vegetable: “Want to try some vegetables?”
Mom glanced at it: “Too much oil, I won’t eat it.”
“Then you should try the porridge I made for you, right? It’s red bean and glutinous rice ball porridge, specially for nourishing the stomach.”
I have no appetite right now.
“How about trying the little cake I brought?”
Mom’s beautiful eyes widened slightly: “Eating cake makes you fat so easily? Are you deliberately trying to ruin my life?”
“Look at what you’re saying.” I put down the cake, leaned down and put my arm around my mother’s shoulder: “You have such a great figure, you won’t gain weight no matter how much you eat.”
“Get out of here.”
My mother pushed my arm aside.
“Hehe.” I chuckled, not taking it seriously. “Well, you should at least eat something, right? I came all this way to see you and even made this meal especially for you. You can’t just not try any of it. This is all from your precious son.”
Mom huffed, a little angrily, “Why did you come to see me? Don’t you like to yell at me?”
As soon as she finished speaking, she muttered to herself, “What precious son? He’s just a complete little rascal.”
Looking at my mother’s sullen face, I had never realized that my gentle and elegant mother could be so cute when she was angry.
“Mom, I was wrong.”
I quickly knelt down in front of my mother, hugged her legs, and shook them vigorously: “Son, I have deeply realized my mistake!”
My mother was still somewhat relentless; she turned her face away, refusing to look at me: “You did nothing wrong, what did you do wrong?”
“I was born a mistake.”
Mom nodded in agreement: “That’s true.”
“Then it was a mistake for my sister to be born. We are twins, so you can’t be so prejudiced against her.”
Upon hearing this, my mother reached out and gave me a hard tap on the head, staring at me without saying a word.
“Okay, okay, Mom, it’s okay. I shouldn’t have yelled at you this morning, and I shouldn’t have said those hurtful things to you.”
